Elk integration help

So I'm planning on getting a elk m1 gold and currently have an isy-994i and lots of stuff setup. I'm planning on purchasing the elk module for the isy.

In this setup I'm wondering what my capabilities are.. If I have a wireless unit on the elk with wireless door sensors, smoke alarms, etc will the isy be able to see these devices and use them in programs (ie door opens, turn light on)?

If not, would it be better to or even possible to get insteon sensors and have the elk set off the alarm etc based on those sensors? Or at the least do things like set off the alarm if my iolinc detects the garage has opened?

I have some integration ideas but not sure how this works, don't want to purchase two door sensors for every door etc.

Yes.

Definitely, NO! You do not need to duplicate the ELK sensors with Insteon as the ELK provides all the integration you will ever need.

I made this same transition a few years back. However, I replaced an older security system and was lucky to use most sensors that were already in place. I did have to run new wiring to the garage overhead doors and replace a couple of faulty sensors/wire circuits. I got pretty good at drywall repair in the process too. But the ELK system has been rock solid and the ISY can monitor and control it all.

While my ELK monitors almost everything in my home, I don't have a septic tank pump float switch hooked to it. That is something I would like to add.

Awesome! That's what I needed to know :)

Now to figure the elk out.. Just from too much reading looks complicated, but I work in IT and have a mechanical mind so hopefully won't be too difficult :)

Please post some of your findings. This system has so many features I know I could benefit from. Although I like DIY, it could be worth hiring an ELK expert just to explain them.
