Keypad Linc Puzzlement

Recommended Posts

I have a 2486D keypadlinc V2C that has a button (Sink) which controls a light above the sink. This button works OK and is the "home" location for the light.

I installed a new keypadlinc 2334-2 V.43 via the "replace" function on the ISY. The 2334-2 has a button which is also designated for the same sink light noted above.

I have a scene "Kitchen Sink" into which both of the above buttons are the only keys. I have tried every combination of "responder"/"controller" for the buttons in this scene as a part of my trouble shooting.

The problems:

1. When using the 2334-2 sink button, the light will not turn on. The ISY believes that the button/light is on. The respective buttons on the 2486D & 2334-2 will also illuminate but the light remains off.

2. When using the Scene, the ISY shows both of the buttons as "On". Both buttons are illuminated but the light is off.

Again, the button on the 2486D will turn on the light when activated by pushing the keypad button or via the ISY.

All other buttons on both keypads work properly.

I did a restore on the 2486D, eliminated both buttons from the Scene and reinstalled the buttons and now seek more suggestions. Thx.

I have mislead you. The new 2334-2 replaces a 2486D V.39. The 2486D V2C mentioned in my message still remains in my system.

The sink light button on the 2486D V2C turns on the light. The button on the new 2334-2 does not turn on the light (although the ISY dashboard indicates the light is on and the keypad button is illuminated). The sink light scene also will not turn on the light (ISY indicates that both keypads are in the ON mode).

I ran a device link table and then did a compare to the ISY.

There is one device on the table 28.CB.85 which shows on many links of the table. I do not find this address associated with any device on the My Lighting page of the ISY. The one mismatch on this table is for an existing device that appears elsewhere. I do not find any other buttons or scenes associated with the 2486D V2C (other than the Sink button) where there is a problem with operation, link or scene.

I can match all addresses shown on the device links table (other than 28.CD.85) to devices on my system.

The link record that does not match is the End of List record. The only byte that means anything is the first 00. The remaining bytes have no meaning in the End of List record.

The V2C KeypadLinc has been known to have issues.

The KeypadLinc V2C Main-A or ON if 6 button is On?

The 2334-2 KeypadLinc secondary button LED is On?

The Admin Console shows both KeypadLinc buttons On?

The load controlled by KeypadLinc V2C Main-A or ON of 6 button is not On even though load control button LED is On?

The V2C keypad is a 6 button that was converted into an 8 button. The button on the V2C keypad that is an issue is now the "F" button. I am assuming that this button is like other secondary keypad buttons, that is it must be linked to a relay or other device in order to operate the light. If true, I don't show a device in the My Lighting display on the ISY. If a device existed, I must have erased it somehow when installing the new 2334-2 keypad and messing around with scenes, etc.

Assuming that the V2C "F" button has a link to a device that is not shown on my ISY, is there a method to determine the address of said missing device? Or put another way, is there a way to find what links are associated with the V2C F button only? I have the links table as previously mentioned.

Regarding your questions below:

1. The V2C Main A or ON button is NOT on. The V2C Sink or F button will light when (a) pushed on the keypad and light turns ON and (B) whenever 2334-2 button or Scene is turned ON but light is off.

2. The 2334-2 secondary button is On whenever I tried via direct button input, scene or V2C button input

3. The Admin Console shows both keypadLinc buttons on when I turn ON the scene.

4. The load controlled by the V2C Main is NOT On unless the button A is illuminated. (Don't know if that answers your question).

PROBLEM SOLVED

I searched my attic (with summer heat) and found an ApplianceLinc that was not on my ISY directory. Found that this was the link to the V2C keypad. After installing the device and making the links to both keypads/scene all is well.

Sorry to take up your time. Thanks.
