Question on ramp rates for scenes

I'm very confused on how the Ramp rate setting on scenes and the ramp rate for devices in those scenes relate to each other. If you want all lighting in a scene with several devices to ramp up/down at the same rate do you set this in the scene or on each device. The only success I have had so far is setting each device one at a time (group does not see to work). What am I missing here?

Thanks

The "Ramp Rate (applied locally)" for an individual device applies when that individual device is turned On/Off with a Direct command or operated manually.

For this Scene

Scene1

Switchlinc1 - Controller

Switchlinc2 - Controller

Switchlinc3 - Controller

there are 4 sets of Ramp Rate values that can be assigned which are independent of each other. That is, each Controller in an Insteon Scene has a unique set of Responder Ramp Rate values. For Scene1 the Controller is the PLM. When Scene1 is turned On/Off with a Program for example each Switchlinc as a Responder has a unique Ramp Rate.

Scene1 - PLM is Controller

Switchlinc1 as Responder to PLM (Controller) can have a unique Ramp Rate - Ramp Rate 0.2 seconds

Switchlinc2 as Responder to PLM (Controller) can have a unique Ramp Rate - Ramp Rate 1 minute

Switchlinc3 as Responder to PLM (Controller) can have a unique Ramp Rate - Ramp Rate 2 minutes

When Switchlinc1 is the Controller Switchlinc2 and Switchlinc3 have a different set of Ramp Rate values

Switchlinc1 - Controller

Switchlinc2 as Responder to Switchlinc1 can have a unique Ramp Rate - Ramp Rate 0.4 seconds

Switchlinc3 as Responder to Switchlinc1 can have a unique Ramp Rate - Ramp Rate 0.8 seconds

When Switchlinc2 is the Controller Switchlinc1 and Switchlinc3 have a different set of Ramp Rate values

Switchlinc2 - Controller

Switchlinc1 as Responder to Switchlinc2 can have a unique Ramp Rate - Ramp Rate 3 seconds

Switchlinc3 as Responder to Switchlinc2 can have a unique Ramp Rate - Ramp Rate 4 seconds

Thanks LeeG for your quick response and help.

When I read your posting the light bulb went off (pun intended). That brought the clarity I needed. I never realized that if your goal is to make all switches that are part of a scene have the same ramp rate then you not only have to set the scene itself with the ramp rate but you have to go into each switch in the scene and set each ramp rate.

This might be an opportunity for the great folks at universal devices to add a check box setting in each scene that could be optionally checked off if your looking for all devices in a given scene to have a common setting. The "Apply changes to all devices" is a bit misleading as it seems to really mean "Apply changes to all devices in this scene but not to the devices themselves".

Thanks again.
