Problem with Dual Band KPL

Recommended Posts

I've been trying to solve a communication problem with a KPL. The KPL is in a separate building from my main house and is on a completely different electrical circuit (different meter and power from the power company) from the PLM and ISY. I am using an Access Point to bridge the two circuits. This seems to work just fine. All my devices on the separate circuit work with no problems with near 100% reliability. Recently, I have been having problems with a KPL not being seen by the ISY. It will respond to commands sent from the ISY, but the ISY doesn't seem to receive any signals from the KPL.

I decided to replace the KPL with a newer dual band KPL (2334-232). I have a 2474 two-wire dimmer on the same wall that uses a dual band plugin dimmer to communicate with the rest of the network. However, when I installed the new dual band KPL I seem to have exactly the same issues. I have four other Insteon switches in the same circuit, one in the same box and three more in a box directly underneath the box with the KPL.

I can get the KPL to link with the ISY, but the linking process never completes and I have the green 1011 icon next to the new KPL. The KPL does respond to commands sent from the ISY, but the ISY isn't getting anything from the KPL.

Why is the KPL not communicating through the plug-in dimmer as the two-wire device is doing? Also, in the ISY, the KPL shows up as a "(2334-2) KeypadLinc Dimmer 5 Buttons v.43". Yes, that is "5 Buttons."

Here is the diagnostic log when I perform a query...

The ISY994i is using firmware 4.0.5. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Greensha,

I would be happy to work with you on this. I do see that some of the commands have no hops remaining and you may be right on the edge of the third hop with your good messages with no more repeats for a message that gets delayed. The idea is to get the signal as far as you can without having to repeat. Keeping it on the same phase until you need to jump to the other service.

Please send me an email to support@universal-devices.com also with your phone number and I will call you.
