joewb Posted September 11, 2008 Posted September 11, 2008 I have 1 KPL Version 1.65 and 2 Inline-linc dimmers. The KPL is a 6 Button. I have these in a home theater. I want to create scenes for watch tv, a movie, intermission and popcorn. I first linked these devices manually(tap-tap). I was able to control the Main load via the secondary buttons. I was having trouble setting on-levels and ramp rates so I bought the isy 99i pro. So I have it all communicating and I set up the scenes and the scenes work perfectly via the on and off buttons on the admin panel. Specifically the A and B buttons-TV and Movie. For the A button I dimm the front lights to 0 on a inline dimmer, the rear lights to 25% via an inline dimmer and I want the KPL load to dim to 0. I created the scenes putting in the responers first-including the KPL Main load as a responder, then last I put in Button A as the controller. When I turn on the main button it turns on all lights-just like when we will be going downstairs. Then when I turn on the A button only the front and rear lights dim, the main load stays on full bright. When I turn off the A button then the KPL switches to off and the main load dims down at the preset rate for the TV scene. Again, this scene works perfectly from the admin control panel for the isy on my pc. I tried factory resets, removing all devices and re-linking......I called Smarthome, they suggested I set the on level for the kpl main load at 2% (I had already tried this 3 times) but this time (the 4th) it works how I want it to, but on the KPL the main On button remains illuminated until I turn off the A or B buttons for the scene. Is this a bug? I am running v 2.65 on the isy 99pro-just got it 4 days ago. I have also messed with mutually exclusive buttons, that does not seem to change it either. Any ideas or is this just normal????
Algorithm Posted September 11, 2008 Posted September 11, 2008 Hello Joe, What you have discovered is correct; the present versions of the KPL do not allow the load to be set to a level of zero from a secondary button. The workaround is, as said, to set the level to the lowest possible non-zero level. In order to have the KPL main button LED go off when the secondary button turns the scene on, create an additional scene and place the KPL main button in the new scene as a responder. Then use an ISY program that watches for the secondary button being switched on, and turns off the new scene containing the KPL main button to turn off its LED.
Sub-Routine Posted September 11, 2008 Posted September 11, 2008 That is a bug in the KPL. You can work around it by running a program in the ISY to turn off the load. Use a Wait to delay the Off until your fade is complete. Rand
joewb Posted September 11, 2008 Author Posted September 11, 2008 Thank-you very much for the quick replys. I was sure that I was just doing something wrong. I feel much better now.
