2450 Errors After Starting to Use Input

I've had a 2450 in my system for a year or so only used to control the output relay and have had no issues. I am now trying to get the input side of the device to work with the ISY. After wiring up I can see the input open and close if I manually query the device via the ISY but it doesn't seem to send out an event when the Input changes.

Now every time I open ISY I get an error saying it can't communicate with the 2450, but if I query it manually all is well. If I do a 'Show Device Links Table' I get a failure -2000000/-5. I can then do a query and the node turns green. Sometimes the ISY says it has an error writing to the 2450 as well.

I can't find any direction on how to deal with a 2450 here, can anyone point me to some docs/info?

The I/O Linc is a powerline only device, no RF Dual Band.  They are often located some distance away in a garage.   To see how well comm to/from the I/O Linc use Tools | Diagnostics | Event Viewer at LEVEL 3.   Turn the Relay On/Off a few times.   Cycle the Input a few times and post the event trace.   The Relay may be operated with a Direct On/Off command that does not require link records where the Input must have link records to send state change messages to the PLM.  Try a Restore Device to rebuild the I/O Linc link database and see if that allows state change messages to be received.

This device is actually the closest one to the controller in my system, can't be more than 15' of wire to the breaker for both the 2450 and the ISY. I have never had an issue with this 2450 for over a year using it only output. This problem only started after I hooked wires up to the input, now almost every time I open ISY I see a communications error with this 2450, but a manual query usually works fine. I even see a 'SSL Request not authenticated' sometimes when I query it. Just yesterday the icon in front of the Input and Output in the tree view turned to Arrows, input pointing right and Output pointing left. The Show Device Links Table worked for awhile and I always get an error on that...just tried and got the SSL error.

I just did a restore device and it walks thru to 100% then pops up can't communicate, I can do a query and looks fine, I do another 'show device Links Table' and this time get  'Failed reading device link' then comm error and again do a manual query and goes green again and reads the Input state correctly.

Here is the event and this should have the SSL issue recorded

Insteon and the LAN (SSL) have no direct relation.   Insteon commands are on the powerline and RF when Dual Band devices are available.  Never touches the LAN.   Perhaps an App like MobiLinc is being used and it is having SSL issues.  My understanding is SSL is no longer used because of security issues.

The Query of the IO Linc (23 D1 7F) worked fine. The Sensor is On and the Relay is Off.

A Fast On for 21 3F 03 issued turning it On.

I agree an SSL error really blew my mind, I've never seen it before and I only see it when I am interacting with this 2450 trying to figure out what the deal is with it. You confirm what I am seeing in that the I/O of the device does work I just get communication and other odd errors....again all ONLY after starting to use the Input feature of this device.

I would like to do a 'factory' reset of the 2450 and re add it from scratch but I can't seem to find any direction on just how I should 'properly' do this.

I've been a developer for 30+ years now and am quite used to digging thru docs and such but there just ain't much here to dig thru. I was wanting to start working on a cloud based interface to communicate with the ISY but I'm starting to think I should start looking at non other technologies before I get any deeper into the ISY.

The Owner's Manual includes the factory reset procedure for an I/O Linc.

If you can post an Event Trace at LEVEL 3 when seeing Insteon error that may show something.   The Event Trace will not show anything related to the LAN and/or SSL.

Is the Sensor connection a basic On/Off switch of some kind?

The lack of comm when the IO Linc Sensor changes state (On or Off) sounds like a link record in the IO Linc or PLM is missing.   Right click on Sensor node and select Restore Device to rebuild IO Linc link database and PLM link record.

I know how to reset the 2450, I don't know what I need to do from the ISY side.

LeeG

My above trace was level 3.

I can't see how to paste in a screen shot but the SSL error I mention does not sound like a LAN/HTTP SSL error. Here is all of the text in the dialog

Failed reading device link

(2450 IO Input)

[-200000/-5]

SSL request not authenticated

This occurred in the above trace. It makes no sense to me that an SSL might popup here so I kind of thing this may be some sort of bug.

I have the input connected to a temperature controller relay.

I have attempted the 'Restore Device' and get errors during the process. When I do this the graph\working bar slowly goes up to 100%, that dialog goes away and up pops 'Cannot Communicate With 2450 IO Input (23 D1 7F 1). Please check connections. I can dismiss this dialog then manually query the device and the red exclamation goes away ...no error.

If I manually reset the 2450 device how do I clear it out of the ISY before I add it back?

Right click on Sensor node and select Delete to remove device from ISY.

The error "Failed reading device link" does not match any Insteon activity in post #3.  The event trace is of a Query of the Sensor and Relay state of 23.D1.7F.  Nothing related to accessing the link database.
