How to setup my 8 button KeypadLinc Dimmer to cotrol a scene

I'm trying to have my KPL 8 button to setup a scene that would control 2 devices, one is the lamp which is on the "Button Main" by default, and the other device is a LampLinc dimmer. I want the 2 devices to go to 35% brightness when the scene is initiated but I don't know how to do that. I've tried searching here but nothing seems to spell it out for me. I have the ISY994i/IR and I created a new scene called Front Room, and added these 2 devices, but from there I am lost. I don't know how to assign the scene to a button in the KPL and finish the scene. I see at the button of the KPL window the "Buttons Grouping" and "Buttons Toggle" buttons, but I'm lost from there. Should I create a "Program" first?

Please help!

Thanks, Ed Spann

Define an ISY Scene.  Add the KPL Main button and LampLinc as Controllers.

Scene xxxx

KPL - Main - as Controller

LampLinc - as Controller

Just below the ISY Scene name "xxxx' are the Red Controller nodes.   Click on the Red KPL Main button and set the Local On Level for the KPL button to 35%.  Set the LampLinc On Level to 35%.  Click  on the LampLinc Red node and set the same values, Local On Level for LampLinc to 35%, KPL button On level to 35%.

When the KPL Main button is pressed On the KPL load and LampLinc turn On to 35%

Hi LeeG, I set the levels both to 35%, but when I press the Main button on the KPL the KPL load goes to 100% and the LampLinc doesn't come on at all. (btw, I don't see the "Red controller nodes" as such; I just have what looks like a traffic light but its not red. But I did set the Local On Levels there.)

If you expand the scene in the left pane by selecting the + sign, the controller will be red. Click on that and adjust the levels. This was one nuance I did not realize for a long time.

Hi Jimbo, my scenes button is expanded, but my controllers are not red. But my bigger concern is that the lampLinc doesn't come on at all when I press the main button on the KPL! Maybe I have to reset the LampLinc, I'll try that.

Hi, If they are not showing up as red then they are not controllers, in the attached picture KPL.B is the controller of the Cook scene, and KPL.C is the controller of the Dine scene.  Also, if you click on the device itself in the left pane it will show what it is a controller for, and what it is a res ponder for.

Sorry, Jimbo, my mistake. I was thinking that the picture box that looks like a traffic light was supposed to be red, not the description itself. That is "red" as you said. I'm still working on getting both the responders to come on but I'm resetting both devices and I'll see it that gets them to respond in the scene.

Thanks for your help!

Hi LeeG, my problem now seems to be that the MAIN button on the KPL only controls the load connected to it, but not the LampLinc which is connected to button "B". Button B will turn on its load but the main button does not. How do I get the Main button on the KPL to turn on the scene? I have both responders setup in the scene in my ISY and their On Levels set to 20%

Thanks,

I finally figured out what I was doing wrong. I did not add the second button, the one with the LampLinc load button B as a responder to the Main button on the KPL. I added that button, as described under "Advanced Features, Add Multiple Scene Responders" in the Keypad Dimmer Owners manual, and now the Main Button on the KPL does indeed turn on both devices and to the On Level set in the ISY.

Thanks to LeeG and Jimbo for your help!

Hi LeeG. I think I solved this thanks to you and Jimbo. I don't know how to send my reply to Jimbo in the later post but here it is, quoted:

Ed, there is an isy video tutorial, easy to find with your favorite search engine that I found to be very helpful when I got started with the isy.
