My thermostat is less than 1 year old and now it seems to not be communicating with my isy . The first one I got never did , so sent that one back for a new one. Then it worked until now, are these stats that bad or could it be something else

They communicate over RF only.   Check the Dual Band device the thermostat uses talks to the PLM.

How would I know which one , I have 5 different devices within 10 ft and the Plm is only 15 ft away

That makes things more difficult to analyze.   Put the PLM into Beacon made and see if all 5 Dual Band devices hear the PLM and note which ones are same 120v leg as PLM and which are on opposite 120v leg.

I can change the set point with the isy or mobilinc , but the com from the stat back to the isy is not working

It seems to intermittent last time the ac turned on it up dated back to the isy

That may indicate a coupling problem as the AC is likely drawing 240v which would couple while AC is On.

I've just started having the same problem with my Insteon thermostats as well.  Both are 2441TH.  They work fine locally, and the ISY seems to be able to control them fine but they just don't seem to update their status in the ISY properly.  To the point where sometimes I open Mobilinc on my Android phone and it shows "---" for the current temperature, and "--" for the Fan and System.  I just tried a "restore device" for both of them in the ISY.  We'll see if that helps.
