Dale T Posted July 6, 2015 Posted July 6, 2015 Hi all, I am about to start installing some Open/Close Sensors (the external ones, not the hidden one). I know the directions show that the arrows need to be no more than 1/2"apart. My doors however have molding around them. As a result, the large half of the sensor would be at least 3/8" higher then the surface of the door. I'm guessing that would be too far apart. What experience do you folks have with these sensors? Thanks Dale
stusviews Posted July 6, 2015 Posted July 6, 2015 You'll have to try it. But be aware that the maximum distance may vary slightly from device the device. You may need to add a spacer between the door and the magnet. If needed, you can use a more powerful magnet.
Dale T Posted July 6, 2015 Author Posted July 6, 2015 If all it takes is a strong magnet, I have some Neodymium magnets I bought for the cadence sensor on my bike. I'll test those and see how far apart it will work. Thank you Stu. Dale
fryfrog Posted July 6, 2015 Posted July 6, 2015 Neodymium magnets might be a mite too powerful If it pulls one or the other off what it is mounted on, it was too powerful!
