Hi all,

I am looking to purchase several leak sensors but am wondering what is necessary to link these to the ISY.

Thanks for any information.

What ISY image are you using?

Click Link Management | New INSTEON Device

enter Insteon address of Leak Sensor

enter Name of your choice

leave Device Type at Auto Discover

put Leak Sensor into linking mode

click Ok on New INSTEON Device popup

Lee,

I am using an ISY 994i. I'm confused as the leak sensors don't plug into a wall outlet so I wonder how it gets it's signal. I would think it would need an RF bridge?

Thanks,

All battery powered devices use RF only so a Dual Band device is required.   The 2413S PLM is Dual Band so it can be used to add Leak Sensor to ISY.  Once added to the ISY the Leak Sensor can be moved to the location where leak detection is desired.  A Dual Band device will be needed for Leak Sensor to communicate with.   Could be the PLM if the Leak Sensor is not too far from PLM.  The Leak Sensor can send a message to see if in range of Dual Band device.  The Leak Sensor User Guide will provide the information

Lee,

Thanks for the information. Looks like my ISY is communicating with that PLM so I assume as long as the Leak Sensor can transmit to it all will work?

Thanks again.

Yes.   The only issue is how far the Leak Sensor is installed from PLM.  Often a Leak Sensor is installed in the basement near the hot water heater which can be far from PLM.   Installed inside a bathroom cabinet can limit RF range.  It may be necessary to add additional Dual Band devices.

Thanks, it's starting to become more clear now. So I assume any RF device; e.g. switch, appliancelinc, etc. would help?
