JackL Posted September 25, 2015 Posted September 25, 2015 I bought an old ISY99i from Ebay and am having a difficult time upgrading from 2.7.0. I believe the problem is the massive FW jump I am trying to make. I found a post describing my exact issue and it seems to have been resolved by upgrading 2.7.0 to 2.7.15 to 2.8.16 to 3.2.6. Unfortunately while these topics still exist on the forum none of the FW download links are working for me. Is this upgrade path my only option or is there a trick to get to the latest version onto my ISY99i? Thanks for any assistance.

LeeG Posted September 25, 2015 Posted September 25, 2015 Grizzy Send me PM with email address. Not sure my email provider will allow a file that large. I tried attaching an image to a PM but the forum will not accept an image that large

JackL Posted September 26, 2015 Author Posted September 26, 2015 Hello leeG, I also have an older 99 I also bought on eBay and could not upgrade, I ended up buying a 994 but would like to get the latest firmware version for the 99 to use for ?? I actually have a second ISY99 in operation I also got from Ebay a few months ago when I created this account. Upgrading and configuring it turned out to be so smooth I never even had to beg for help on here! I am going to go see it today. Hopefully the image of the card I am going to make will solve both our problems. FWIW, this is the post where they discussed the problem: http://forum.universal-devices.com/topic/9186-upgrading-from-very-old-version/
JackL Posted September 26, 2015 Author Posted September 26, 2015 I sent you a PM Thank you for such a quick response! I love this forum and the ISY platform. I wish I would have discovered these units years ago!
JackL Posted September 27, 2015 Author Posted September 27, 2015 Success!! A few notes for anyone that finds this thread with the same issue. I could not upgrade using the UD link referenced on the format the SD card page, period. (Yes, I formatted the card days ago trying to make this upgrade happen...) What did work for me was telneting to the unit and formatting the card with FS, removing it from the ISY99i and unzipping the contents of 2.7.15 directly to the SD card with my PC. I put it back in and the ISY instantly booted normally and gave me access to the HTTP interface! From there I launched the built in admin console and manually upgraded MY LIGHTING with the same 2.7.15 for good measure. I reopened the HTTP interface and built in admin console and manually upgraded MY LIGHTING with 2.8.16. It went very smoothly and the unit reports the correct version. I let the automatic updater take it to 3.3.10 with no problems. I believe you will need to add the IP address of your ISY to the java exceptions on your PC to follow this path. Now I wonder what would have happened if I would have just unzipped the latest firmware to the SD card...but I do not want to push my luck. lol Many thanks to LeeG for providing me with the older firmware I needed to get my unit upgraded!
