I wasn't previously interested in the ISY Portal until I just read about the Amazon Echo integration.  Now, I cannot find how I subscribe to the service, googling, searching the forums and wikis didn't provide the information I seek.  Could someone point me in the right direction, please! :)

Thanks in advance!

Login to the Admin Console and select purchase module and it will take you to the web page to purchase the UDI Portal.

Thanks, I admitted at the onset it was a stupid question ;)   That was the only place I didn't think to look. It was a brain freeze moment! ;)

SteinyD,

There is never a stupid question when it comes to technology and how to obtain, use, manage.

Cheers!

I've now purchased the module, I've created my account for the ISY Portal and I've installed the module. I am running 4.3.26.  I am attempting to enable internet access from the admin console. However, I repeatedly received an error as soon as it starts to enable. On the portals tab i only see 'Portal Integration UDI' with nothing listed. in the ISY Portal, it shows that my ISY is not online.  My HTTP settings in the admin console are the default of 80 and 443.

This is the error log:

Enable Internet Access from the UI is confusing and unnecessary if using DHCP or static IP.

Here's instruction for the Portal from UDI...

ISY Portal Post Installation Configuration

There are three steps for having ISY communicate through ISY Portal

1. Creating an account on ISY Portal if one does not exist (click on the Create new account link). If one already exists, simply login

2. Registering ISY with your account in ISY Portal using ISY’s UUID (Help | About – also included in your invoice). To do this click on the Add ISY button and copy/paste the UUID from your invoice or order notification

3. Giving permission to ISY to communicate with ISY Portal

  a. Login to the Admin Console

  b. Click Configuration | Portals tab

  c. You will see a request for access from your account in ISY Portal

  d. Approve it

  e. You are done!

More information on Amazon Echo integration can be found here

Trouble Shooting

The most likely error is ISY not being able to contact the server to update the installation record. If you have configured ISY with a static IP address, please consider

- Reverting to DHCP, Or

- Use 8.8.4.4 for the DNS server

Try changing your isy ip to dhcp and see if it fixes it. A lot of people are having this same issue.

Thanks for that. I forgot that as part of my background as well. I AM setup for DHCP already.

Thanks Jon, but those are the steps I followed as I hope I documented at the top of my details.

Select Configuration > Portals. Does it show you as being online and registered? Does it show an active service?

It doesn't show any services. It just shows a heading that says, 'Portal Integration UDI' and then what looks like a legend just below it for offline and registered.  There aren't any services listed.  I did install the ISY Portal and it did show success in doing so. It took a bit of time for it to do the install. When attempting the enable internet access, it immediately comes back with an error message, 'failed enabling internet access'.

A couple other pieces of possibly useless info ... I have had random problems with Mobilinc connecting to the ISY.  I realize this is via my intranet but, one day my mobillinc app on my iPhone will connect to the isy and another day it won't but at the same time it may be fine from my iPad.

I have also confirmed that I *did* enter my UUID correctly in the ISY Portal. I retrieved my UUID from help/about.   I also confirmed in help/about that the internet access is disabled.

Also, I am managing my ISY from an iMac (intel based, 2015 model) running El Capitain. However, I have Firefox installed and use it to manage the ISY. I have version 44 (current) installed along with the current version of Java.

Do not enable internet access at all. Uncheck that selection. What is the result if you browse to http://my.isy.io ?

Nothing to uncheck as it won't enable.  In the ISY Portal it shows that my ISY has never connected. Shows it is offline.  That's the problem I'm attempting to solve.

It seems the ISY Portal cloud service cannot connect to my ISY through my home network. Do I need to expose any firewall ports on my router?

For reference, I my internet to my intranet configuration is a cable modem (Arris) -> router (Netgear N900) -> ISY (994i).

UDI is very concerned about security. You DO NOT need to open any ports. That's the secure aspect of the portal. Check and double check the the ISY MAC address and the portal UUID are identical. IIRC, the portal requires all lower case.

Thanks, Stu. I do realize UDI's focus on security. I've been a customer for a number of years. I was just grasping at straws and providing more details. I have doubled checked and can confirm the UUID and MAC addresses are the same. The UUID was entered as all lower case in the ISY Portal.

Try deleting and re-adding the ISY.

In the ISY Portal? I did. Twice.  I've deleted cache on my Mac through the Java Console (twice).  I'm out of ideas. :(

Submit a ticket with UDI and they'll straighten it out.

Jon...

I did, thanks. I'm working with Michel back and forth through email.

Of an interesting note. I just cleared the cache from the java console on my iMac. I then removed and re-added my isy to the ISY Portal. I then restarted the ISY Console, changed to the configuration / portal tab. I clicked 'refresh' and immediate received this error, “Socket Open failed java.net.SocketException: Host is down”.

This actually now looks like it is related to my ISY. I have to unplug it and re-start it.

I'm stopping until I hear back from Michel.

It was noted once the module was installed in the ISY Controller a hard reboot had to be completed. Simply doing a soft reboot via the Admin Console did nothing.

You may want to consider doing that simple step and see if it allows you to enable the portal once you see the pending request in the Admin Console *Portal* tab.

If it appears later when you completed the hard reboot and you notice when you select OK. If you see a error pop up message to the affect saying *Bad Process* or what ever.

Perform an soft boot and it should allow you to complete the enrollment process.

I did that actually a couple of times. I noticed after accepting the install of the service and the ISY reported it was going to reboot, I was not able to find the ISY. So I did do a hard reboot after that without any better results.

It seems you're reliving my life from last night!

For the benefit of others these are the steps I took to get the portal to operate.

- Installed the module and soft rebooted - followed with a hard reboot.

- Created a portal account and added my ISY with the UUID.

- In the portal top right *My Profile* I select the ISY and selected save.

- Went back to the Admin Console and waited for the pending request from the portal.

- Enabled the pending request - which required another soft / hard reboot to let me get past the pop up message.

Came back to the portal and saw the grey LED finally turned green!

Call it luck, impatience, Michel doing something in the back end.  After leaving it alone for awhile and reading all the forum messages I could, I looked at the ISY Portal again and it pending my authorization. I restarted my ISY Console and wouldn't you know it, it was waiting for me to authorize.  Now it appears to be online.  So, onto the next challenge ...

I've enabled the skill in my Echo app on my iPhone. I have linked my ISY Portal and ISY to my Amazon Echo account in the ISY Portal. I have confirmed the skill is enabled on my Echo by verbally asking Alexa to turn on izzy. I received the proper set of instructions and prompt for me to interact.  HOWEVER, when I run discover from settings in the Echo app on my iPhone, it does not return any results.  When I select Amazon Echo from my ISY in the ISY Portal, it tells me, " The ISY skill is not linked to your portal user profile. Please go to your echo app, enable the ISY skill, and link the skill with this user profile.".

But, all my devices and scenes are in the list and i have add spoken words via the ISY Portal. It all seems to work in spite of the errors I see above.
