Adding Z-Wave GDO to a ISY scene

After getting tired of IOLinc issues as a GDO, I started down the path of Z-Wave.  First, upgraded the ISY994 with the Z-Wave dongle, then bought the Linear GD00Z-4 Z-GDO.  My ISY was too far from the garage to operate it, so I moved it to a more central location in the house.  Still not close enough, so I bought a Z-Wave switched outlet to install somewhere in the middle.  Garage operation from the ISY was hit or miss, so I bought another switched outlet.  It looks like that got my comm working.

Now I'm trying to get a button on each of 3 KPLs to open the garage door, so I just modified the scene I had been using with the IOLinc.  I removed the IOLinc and added the Z-Wave GDO.  But, none of the buttons will open the garage door.  I can operate the device from the the admin console, so it seems like it should work.  What am I doing wrong?

AFAIK, you cannot have a z-wave device work in an Insteon scene.  Perhaps this functionality will work in a future firmware release.

I use programs instead - one that triggers when the KPL button is turned on (open the door), and one that is triggered when the KPL is turned off.  The status is handled by another pair of programs that check the status of the GDO and set the KPL button scene so that the button correctly reflects the state of the door.  The status programs are set to run 15 seconds after the open/close programs, which gives the doors enough time to have completed the operation.

(Actually, for one of the doors, I still have the IOLinc and magnetic switch installed, and while it no longer opens/closes the door, I think that door's KPL button is still triggered by the IOLinc... I'll have to check on that now that I think about it!  (nothing like a half-way job, huh?!))

Hmm, okay.  Thanks for the education.   I guess I assumed that the ISY would function as a proxy for the z-wave GDO and translate the ON from the KPL to a z-wave command to the GDO (although I did note that there was no way to specify just what command to send).  The program method works - just not as responsive.
