Since I had to disable MobiLinc, in favor of Echo, I can't figure out a way to find the status of a device while I'm away from home.

Is this possible?  "Alexa, what's the status of my garage door?" just doesn't work from the app.

 

I'm assuming you meant you disabled Mobilinc Connect in favor of the ISY Portal?  You can still use Mobilinc with the Portal however if you are using iPhone you do lose some functionality as notifications.

There is no way I'm aware of to get the status of a device from Echo.  Here are a list of commands for Connected Home and Alexa Skill.

Configure browser push notifications
Chrome (Android)
  1. Tap the lock icon next to the address bar.
  2. Tap Permissions → Notifications.
  3. Adjust your preference.
Chrome (Desktop)
  1. Click the padlock icon in the address bar.
