I was in on the $99 introductory offer and received a remote with the purchase but didn't really make good use of it until the ISY Skill / Connected Home published. Jon... Quote

If they enable this feature, then a remote like this seems like kind of a waste of money. Once you can control the Echo from your phone, it will essentially give you full home voice control with a single Echo. The only reason I can see Amazon not wanting this is that it would potentially cannibalize sales of the new Echo Dot. Quote

And what about people visiting your house? Or your kids that don't have iPhones yet? I think I'll end up putting a Dot in almost every room, though I wish it were a little cheaper. The remote would be perfect if you didn't have to hit a button first. Quote
