V5 compatibility

Wes,

I've been having trouble with Orchestrated Mobilinc crashing on my iPhone.  When I open the app, I am usually able to navigate to another page or two on the app but soon thereafter it freezes and doesn't accept any other touch commands.  All the while, the little spinning circle is going round and round at the top of the iPhone screen.  Ultimately, the app crashes and closes every time.

I thought it may have been related to a programs issue in the ISY (see http://forum.universal-devices.com/topic/18434-502-issue-with-programs-loading/), but Michel seems pretty convinced my programs should be fine.

Some basic config stats:

  • Been using Orchestrated Mobilinc successfully for probably 4-5 years now.
  • Not using Mobilinc connect or the ISY Portal (though I will do one or the other soon since I just got an Amazon Echo) - I'm connecting directly using a DDNS name and port forwarding on my router for remote access and local IP address with port 80 for local access.
  • iPhone 6S with iOS 9.2.1

The issue seemed to arise after upgrading from ISY firmware 4.3.?? to 5.0.2.  Upon upgrading to 5.0.2, I started using some of the "new" device status and control features.

Now to my real questions:

Is Mobilinc compatible with all of these features?  Or could it be an issue with the node servers I'm using?

Michel suggested that it could be an issue with the new vs old control and status I have in my programs which are causing the app to crash.

Any thoughts?  Thanks in advance!

Hi Todd,

We're not aware of any 5.x firmware issues with MobiLinc that would cause a crash to occur. We have seen in a couple of cases a program issue appear in 5.x where the data from the ISY is mismatched (status of a program vs. the actual program list). We have a workaround solution inhouse that we are testing, but a quick way to see if this is the issue is to go back to the latest firmware 4.x and restore your 4.x backup to confirm that the issue goes away.

If you think that the programs are not the issue, then the next thing to try is to create a new profile in MobiLinc (Settings->Active Profile) and sync with your ISY. If the conditions are of such that you can't get there, please delete MobiLinc and reinstall. If the issue persists, please contact me at support@mobilinc.com and reference this post with your external IP, port, and your username/password or your MobiLinc Connect UUID and I'll connect from the lab to investigate.

Thanks Wes

I actually had deleted my old 4.x backups, so I can't do what you suggested.  Bad move on my part.

I do have one more thing to try to clean up my programs, so I'll see if that works.

I did try deleting Mobilinc and re-installing it.  That didn't seem to help.

I'll get back to you if the program cleanup idea doesn't work.

Hi Todd,

Great post! Glad you persevered and worked through it to find a solution. This is great for anyone else experiencing the same issue with programs and the alpha 5.x firmware.
