Good morning, 

 

I have run threw both the video and the online instructions several times and Im SO CLOSE, but cant get there...  Here is where I am.  I say "Alexa open IZZY" it responds Welcome to your home....."  I say "tell Izzy to turn on the living room lights"  Alexa :"No devises found....."  I have linked them and given the switches voice names in the "Notes" .... where can I trouble shoot this?

Does the device appear in the Connected Home list? Did you enable the ISY skill? Try, "Alexa, turn the <spoken_name> on."

Here's the Wiki instructions for configuration.  You might review the steps and see if it helps.

 

You no longer use "Notes" for devices but rather in ISY Portal you add spoken phrases to devices/programs and scenes then ask Alexa to discover.

Well I tinkered and tinkered and some how it works now..... thanks.  The ISY does not come up in the Connected home list but the spoken word I put in the ISY portal (NOT the spoken words in the desk top link) showed up.....

Copy, when I looked to see and the "enable internet access" from the desktop it failed.  I'm guessing that is why the "notes, spoken words" doesn't work as described in Steve's video.

That's correct. The spoken words in the desk top no longer function since the advent of the portal.

 

What do you mean by, " The ISY does not come up in the Connected home list ..." Without enabling the ISY link the Echo has no control.

Ignore "Enable Internet Access [my lighting]" which is devised for UPnP router and which isn't advised to begin with

Also, if you see in Help > About  Internet Access is Disabled also ignore as this is related.

 

You're already setup in the portal so either you're using DHCP (advised) or static.

Steve's video must be obsolete because "Notes" was originally used with the ISY Skill but changed when Connected Home was enabled.
