Ask My Buddy - Anyone using it?

I wanted to know if anyone has started or is using the Beta application of *Ask My Buddy* in the Echo. Essentially as I understand it is this feature will allow a person to send text, email, sms to any listed person in their contacts that is set up.

 

I've been working on a mini project for a few people who are in different stages of disability. Thus having such a feature in times of stress, emergency, or simply to get a message to a family / friend.

 

I find lots of value in this feature and brings this device out of the realm of a toy.

 

To an actual tool which can help many around the world as it should be.

Ask My Buddy is a free 'Personal Alert Network' operating on Amazon's Alexa Voice Service (via the Echo, Tap, and Dot devices)

Users enter 5 contacts and the different ways each can be reached (an email, voice #, and Text message #).

Then if the user needs help or attention, they simply say "Alexa, Ask My Buddy to alert mycontactsname".  Then the friend will receive a pre-written message like the following:

 

Bob Henderson Sent you an alert via AskMyBuddy.net, on Amazon Alexa.  This alert is sent only if this person has asked for help.  Please check on them now. Once again, Please check on Bob, now! Thank you.

 

Or if the user needs anyone or everyone to come check on them, can say "Alexa, Ask My Buddy to send help" - and all contacts will receive the message.

I've been testing out the *Ask My Buddy* service for a few months now. I have to say my initial testing and feedback from others has been extremely positive.

 

My goal for this service was to extend the usefulness of the Amazon product line for those with physical disabilities. Its safe to say your free service meets those needs and hits the mark.
