rafarataneneces Posted August 9, 2016 Posted August 9, 2016 I am ordering Z-Wave from UDI and I was wondering if the Fibaro multi on sensor https://www.amazon.com/Fibaro-Z-Wave-Motion-Sensor-FGMS-001/dp/B01615SUBI Which device is the MUST HAVE from the Z-Wave world? This Fibaro Motion Sensor looks great, has somebody used it yet???
elvisimprsntr Posted August 9, 2016 Posted August 9, 2016 You will want to add at least one other device to act as a repeater to improve the strength of the Zwave mesh network. I recommend the Gen 5 Aeotec Siren. Siren Gen5, ZW080-A17, by Aeotec, Cert ID: ZC10-14090012 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00PKKM2HO/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_33yQxbJ7E93KR
G W Posted August 9, 2016 Posted August 9, 2016 The only Z-Wave devices i have are Two Schlage deadbolts. They both work 100% with no repeater. Best regards, Gary Funk

Best regards, Gary Funk So what you are saying is stay with Insteon and use Z-Wave only as needed. Don't use Z-Wave as controllers for scenes (not supported yet) So I guess it's better to use Insteon Motion Sensor because it's more stable. Create a Scene instead of a Program (scene needs no brain/hub, if house network goes down, scene works, program stops working)

However, I miss-spoke: I recently added a z-wave thermostat. I haven't found the need for any other Z-Wave devices. As for motion sensors, I won't use battery devices and I feel the Insteon motion sensors are garbage. Best regards, Gary Funk
stusviews Posted August 10, 2016 Posted August 10, 2016 Insteon motion sensors are ideal where power is not available, outdoors for example. For in-wall situations, I use Lutron Motion sensors wired to Micro Modules.
