Weird Motion Sensor Problem

Featured Replies

Posted

I have a weird problem that just started the other day. I've got a fairly decent setup (though nothing compared to many of you!) with primarily Insteon devices and a few old X10 devices that are left over from my old system, all working with an ISY-994i.

The issue that I'm having is that one of my Insteon 2842 Wireless Motion Sensors is always sending an ON signal 3-4 seconds after it sends an OFF signal. It's happening every time that the motion sensor times out, without fail. I've actually had to disable the programs that depend on a trigger from the motion sensor.

Has anyone else had a problem like this? I've tried factory resetting the Motion Sensor and then Restored it, but the behavior continues. Has the sensor started failing?

Thanks for your help!

Adam

That's a common low battery symptom.

Some of the older motion sensors send continuous on signals rather than the low battery signal once the battery voltage drops. Supposedly the current shipping version of the sensors corrected that problem, but time (and a low battery) will tell .

I'll give that a try. Thanks for your advice!
