to_lighter Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 Hi gang, I have read with interest the many posts on these forums of how people are using their 2420M motion detectors. For me, I would like to do something very simple. If the motion detector detects motion, it should turn on the nearby light. After a minute of no motion, it should turn the light off. I understand that this is how the 2420M works if you program it manually (i.e. without the ISY, which I have never done). How do I take advantage of the built in programming of the 2420M within the ISY environment? Cheers!
gregoryx Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 Just put the 2420M and a light in a group with the 2420M as a controller. Done. Use the ISY to change the duration of the "off" timer if you like. Use the ISY to trigger an email when the battery on the 2420M gets low if you like. Use the 2420M light/dark in other ISY programs if you like. The great news is that the ISY now knows the state of the light when the 2420M controls it (since it's always part of the group).

I created a scene with the motion "sensor" as the controller, and a light as the responder. The scene itself shows one ramp rate for the light, and the motion sensor in the scene shows yet another ramp rate for the light. I've found that setting the ramp rate of the light within the scene has no effect on the light. You can only set the ramp rate by setting the ramp rate of the light of the motion sensor of the scene. Scene: - Member #1: Light with ramp rate #1 - Member #2: Motion Sensor with Ramp rate #2 for the light above

The 'base' scene is the one used by the ISY, either by direct control or in programs. Every other controller in the scene can have different levels and rates for the devices in the scene. If you want the other controller to use the same levels and rates as the ISY you can select that controller in the scene and use "Copy Scene Attributes from Scene Name". Rand
