thedishking
Hello, I am running 4.5.4 on my ISY 994 IR Pro, and about 1 month ago, I stopped receiving alerts from my ISY telling me the Elk was Armed, Disarmed, etc. After looking into it a bit, it turns out I am not able to see status (or control the M1) on the top bar of the Admin Console (please see included picture). However, the ISY is still seeing some things, but apparently it is missing something. I am also not able to see Elk control in MobiLinc any longer (previously worked as well). I have tried (in my opinion) almost everything I can think of, including: Replaced M1XEP Another ISY 994 with Elk module A new Elk M1 Put all devices on a stand alone router, with only 3 devices on the network (laptop, ISY, M1XEP). Everything had been working perfectly for about 4 months, and all of the sudden, it quit working. I am truly at wits end on this and hopeful someone can provide some guidance to assist. Thank you for any help you can provide!
Michel Kohanim
Hello thedishking, That's quite odd. Are you saying that this started happening after upgrading to 4.5.4? If so, have you tried downgrading to the previous version to see whether or not it works? From what I see, it's definitely related to some configuration in ELK. Just have to figure out which. If you wish, you can submit a ticket and we can do a remote session to help. With kind regards, Michel
shannong
Do you have the ElkRP application connected to the M1 from anywhere? It gets exclusive control when connected and nothing else can communicate with the M1.
thedishking
Hi Michel, I will try to downgrade one of the ISY units to older software and see where that takes me prior to submitting a ticket. Shannong, I do not have ElkRP running. I am wondering if there is a specific procedure that should be followed after disconnecting from ElkRP? Do I need to power cycle ISY, or disconnect in ISY prior to connecting via ElkRP, and then reconnect ISY once again? Being so desperate, I even broke out the Windows 7 laptop last night to try config via ElkRP (to double check the serial port settings, etc.), and got the exact same results. Is there something with the newer firmware for the M1XEP? While I was successful with maintaining a connection for several months, I really can't be sure of anything at this point. Thank you for your help!
shannong
Shannong, I do not have ElkRP running. I am wondering if there is a specific procedure that should be followed after disconnecting from ElkRP? Do I need to power cycle ISY, or disconnect in ISY prior to connecting via ElkRP, and then reconnect ISY once again? It doesn't matter if the ElkRP application is open. Only if it's connected to the M1. Once you click "Disconnect" in ElkRP, the ISY normally resubscribes on its own as it regularly begins a new attempt to connect to the M1 whenever not connected. You don't need to do anything special once disconnecting with the ElkRP. Connection issues between ISY-M1 are normally related to port # configuration, secure vs non-secure, enabling u/p for M1XEP, and client encryption settings of the ISY, and version of M1/M1XEP firmware (which affects encryption support and behavior of u/p configuration). The M1 tries to download firmware updates every time you open it. You can My configuration: ISY: v4.5.4. TLS not selected. Port 2101. No u/p. M1: v5.3.0. M1XEP: v2.0.42. Enable Non-secure port.Disable u/p. And of course make sure you "Send ElkRP -> M1" in the M1XEP setup tab. I'm also assuming you can successfully connect to the M1 over the network from ElkRP using the non-secure port. ?
thedishking
I can connect to the non secure port, both with ElkRP, and M1ToGo. Both work perfectly. I have verified there is no username / password on both M1XEP and ISY. I will post all firmware / software versions tonight. My ISY is exactly the same as yours. I have the 994 IR Pro / Z Wave version with ISY portal, Z Wave, IR and Elk modules enabled. Thanks!
DennisC
Maybe try cycling the power on the Elk, M1XEP, and the ISY?
thedishking
Hello, I have power cycled the Elk, M1XEP, ISY and PLM many times and am still stuck. Where I stand is I can execute the "run then" part of a program that was setup to Arm the Elk, or Disarm the Elk, and it works just fine. Zones are also showing voltage in the ISY Admin console. The main things that are not working are: 1. Buttons / status on top of Admin console do not show status or do anything - (Arm Away, Arm Stay, Disarm, Elk Console) do not do anything at all. 2. ISY is "not aware" of when the Elk is armed or disarmed. I had notifications setup to email / text me when the alarm was armed or disarmed, and have not see one of these in over a month. 3. Seemingly because of a lack of status, etc.? Mobilinc Elk plug in is no longer working. thedishking
Hello - I wanted to post an update. While I am making significant progress, I am not quite there yet. It turns out firmware 5.3.10 exposes something differently so rather than having only Area 1, ISY now seems to import Areas 1 through 8. It also turns out I could see Areas 2 through 8, but it seems Area 1 is missing.... There are several threads on the forum on how to hide areas 2 through 8, which seems to be why my Area 1 was hiding. I had a space before the area name, so it would be centered on the M1KP2 Keypad. It turns out this space was causing issues elsewhere. The problem is, I have gone into RP and removed the space on Area 1 (along with renaming it to Area 1), but it still pulls into ISY incorrectly. I have also attempted "the fix" on some of the other areas, but they all still pull into the ISY. I have posted 3 pictures for further explanation. I have also gone into the keypad programming, just to be sure, and I do indeed see the spaces as they are shown in RP. Thank you very much for your help!!! I am almost there.... While I am now getting status and alerts into ISY (YAY!!!), the trouble is I am not able to write any new programs, as when I select "Area" it only shows 2 through 8. MWareman
Have you refreshed the topology since you removed the space? The spaces on the others may also be messing it up.... Just guessing though.
thedishking
I thought that I did do that... Apparently not. Thank you very much!!!!!!!!!! I believe all along, the problem was the preceding space on the name of the area. The multiple area problem (or change) popped up primarily due to the new firmware. Thank you for all of your help!!!!!!!!!
dantoronto
I am also trying to arm ELK from ISY. I can disarm but not arm. I can use programs in ISY with IF's as to whether alarm is armed or not. But I can't arm. When I run "ARM STAY" from ISY, I get a "Failure to Communicate" on keypad. In fact, in some cases, it has triggered a "panic alarm" which should be F1. I am trying to create a program in ISY to ARM STAY which then allow me to trigger that program through Alexa. Any suggestions or guidance? Please make it simple, I am not a techie!!! Thanks
