grecathouse
My local Costcos have the Insteon home control starter kit for $30. It includes a 2245-222 hub and two LampLinc Dimmer dual band 2457D2. Since a single LampLinc dimmer goes for nearly 50$ I thought this was a good deal and bought 4 of the starter kits just for the LampLincs. Now what can I do with the four spare hubs? If I plug them in throughout the house will they act like network repeaters? BTW new forum member here. Just got my ISY994i last week and love it so far. Hope this was the right place to post this. paulbates
Hi and welcome to the UDI forums! Yes, the hubs would operate as range extenders which they'll do passively by just plugging them in. They should not be installed/added to the ISY Paul Link to comment
KeviNH
Apparently Costco has had these kits on closeouts for a while now, just can't seem to unload them, that explains why eBay prices for the 2245-222 have fallen through the floor lately. I'm tempted to pick a couple up for my Makerspace, looks like an easy way to get them started with Insteon and maybe there is some opportunity to really hack the hub, replace the cloud-tethered firmware, maybe turn this into an insteon sniffer/tracer?
