Read New Insteon Device Addresses Carefully!

I recently went through a very long and painful troubleshooting session with a new Insteon switchable outlet.  I tried to link it with my ISY controller and it would not respond.  I reported the failure and got another outlet and it behaved the same way.  I finally tried Link Management->Start Linking and put the outlet in linking mode.  The controller discovered it, but with a different address than the one I entered.  I had entered the address on the outlet, 44.88.23.  The ISY had discovered 44.08.23.  I got out a flashlight and a magnifying glass and sure enough, the label said 08 and not 88, but for some reason the bizarre font they've switched to puts a dot in the middle of the zero that makes it look like an eight unless you look VERY closely.  See the attached pictures.

I hope this helps others who might run into the same problem.

By the way, the second outlet also had a zero in the address that looked like an eight!

Thank you for the information.

From time to time. We have had others misread a digit. I have a few of the Remotelinc 2 modules where the six digit ID is poorly printed and I misread one myself.

It almost looks like the Zero has a dot in the middle and not quite the same shape but unless you happen to have a real eight in the ID for comparisons. It would be hard to catch.

That sticker is completely different than what has been used in the past.
