Does ISY994i do better job than Houselink at finding relays

My Insteon Houselink set up has always had problems finding Insteon relays. I have wasted tens of hours reconfigering it over the years. Since 2005 or earlier.

In particular, I have some older relays that are not dual band.  Houselink can't find them and tells me to go push the set button.  But a few are 25'+ off the ground, in spot lites.

So I am considering the ISY994i or something similar.

Also, where is the linking information stored?  In the PLM, or in the switches and relays?

thx

The problem your experiencing is the fact HL2 is a legacy product and the device signature profiles are no longer being updated. Since the device signatures are not updated any newer devices will simply not be referenced and included into the HL2 data base. Links are stored in all Insteon hardware devices and referenced in the 2413S PLM.

The ISY Series Controller stores these associated links and manages them in the system . . .

The ISY can do a lot, but it can't overcome communication problems. Like any Insteon manager, it can do everything via a computer that you would normally do manually by pushing and holding buttons. But, it's not an Insteon signal booster. You'll need to do some troubleshooting to get at the problem.

Which specific relays? What else is on the same circuit as the spotlights? What kind of bulbs are in the spotlights?
