DSC - Using EnvisaLink 4 - Question on Zones?

Featured Replies

Posted

This is further to my other thread on setting up the Venstar T7900, I have now installed the EnvisaLink 4 card on my cottage DSC (PC1832) and linked the alarm system to my ISY using NodeLink.

After setting it up I went through the process of identifying the zones (*1 then scroll through one at a time). There are 19 zones which I took note of. When I tested the zones by opening doors, using the EyezOn iPhone app, the first 18 zones were exactly as reported on the alarm pad, however the last zone which I would have thought was zone 19 shows up as zone 32!

Perhaps this is a better question for a DSC forum but I thought that maybe someone here may have experience with this. I thought that zone numbers, in DSC systems, were assigned sequentially as they were entered so that this zone should be zone 19!

Any comments?

In a DSC system, zone numbers are assigned by the installer.

If they are hardwired, it depends on where on the panel they are connected.

If wireless, the sensor serial number would have been programmed for the given zone.

For example, I have hardwired zones 1, 2, and 3, and wireless 9-32.

Thanks...

All of my zones are hard wired.

I thought that when programming, a DSC system, the installer enters the various zones information but the system actually assigns the zone number. This is why I thought it odd that the last zone had a zone number of 32 instead of 19! Perhaps my understanding, of the programming, is wrong and it simply was the installer assigning that zone to number 32!

It's more an issue of curiosity since I can work with the zone whether it's 19 or 32.

One of the negatives of having the numerous blank spots in the zone sequence is that if I erase them from the ISY, NodeLink repopulates them whenever it is 'restarted'! The profile says that there are 32 zones, so it recreates the deleted zones!

I guess I will have to move them to an unsused Zones folder!

Hi,

Does any know how I can get the status of my DSC nodes via REST api?
