Cannot add 2477D - Cannot determine Insteon Engine

Recommended Posts

Hi.  I'm having difficulty getting my 994i to add a new 2477D dimmer.  I have a number of these already in the system which all work just fine.

What I have done so far:

  • Unplugged the PLM and the ISY.  Plugged in the PLM, waited a good 30s and then powered up the ISY.  Tried to add the switch manually.
  • Ran Restore PLM, let everything settle out, then tried adding the switch manually.
  • Ran a trace level 3 during an add, results below

  • Factory reset the 2477D, repeated above steps
  • Removed and added back a different device just fine.
  • Successfully added the 2477D to the Insteon Hub.  Can control the switch fine.
  • Tried again to add switch to ISY, still failing.

I'm running 4.5.4 on the ISY, the PLM shows "v9E / Connected".  I'm at a loss what else to try.  Suggestions?

Thanks!

the error you're getting usually indicates a communication problem between the PLM and the device.  It could also be a defective device or interference on the powerline.

What type of load is connected to the 2477D?

Do a factory reset on the 2477D and try adding back to the ISY, but first unplug the HUB. When you do the factory reset make sure you keep the reset lever depressed until the long beep stops

Thanks for the reply.  I have LED "pot" lights connected to it.  Factory resets have not made a difference.  I'll try relocating the PLM and see if that makes a difference.  I'm not sure about defective device since it works fine with the HUB.

Try relocating the PLM. Make sure it's plugged directly into an outlet and not a power strip.

Some electrical devices can interfere with the Insteon signal, especially TV's, power supplies, etc., so try to isolate them from the PLM.
