David D Posted March 2, 2009 Share Posted March 2, 2009 Yes, last night we got the first major snowfall we've had in Richmond, VA in years. Lost power around 9:30 last night and it just came back on. I logged onto the ISY to see how it fared. The first thing I noticed is that there aren't any devices showing under "Network". I hit Query and nothing shows up. All my Programs seem to be there, and the time and location are correct. What do I need to do to get back to "normal" and is there anything that I should consider programming-wise to account for the occasional power outage? Thanks! Link to comment
David D Posted March 2, 2009 Author Share Posted March 2, 2009 Update... I re-started my computer and things are showing up now, but I have a "System Busy" and Java is working myCPU to death (93-99%). Is this normal? Link to comment
Sub-Routine Posted March 2, 2009 Share Posted March 2, 2009 No, that's certainly not normal. Are any of the LEDs on the ISY on steady or blinking? If you are using v2.7 there is a Reboot button on the Configuration panel. Otherwise try a power-cycle on the ISY and PLM. Rand Link to comment
David D Posted March 2, 2009 Author Share Posted March 2, 2009 Thanks Rand. Right before getting your reply, the cpu usage went back to normal, although the "System Busy" message was still there. I jumped the gun and hit reboot before checking the ISY lights . After reboot, the "System Busy" went away and is now in the "Ready" state. Any recommended settings or programming to account for power outages? Link to comment

I'm going out a limb a bit but I am guessing that when your power was restored it may have flickered and caught the ISY when it was rebooting. In our neighborhood they have a lot of practice restoring power and have gotten quite good at it The ISY is normally very good at restarting. Rand Link to comment

Rand I had a similar problem a couple of months ago during a windstorm- the power went on and off several times in just a few seconds and left many of my electronic gadgets in a state of limbo, including my ISY-26. When I upgraded to a -99 last month, I thought I could transfer the -26 p/s to the -99 and connect it to a UPS. (Yes, I know an automation controller isn't much use when the electricity is off, but the UPS would shield the -99 from those sorts of brief, punishing power events. Of course, I wouldn't plug the PLM into the UPS). But guess what? The power connector on the -99 doesn't accept the plug from the -26 p/s. I have accumulated probably sixty 'power warts' over the years. (They multiply like coat hangers)! I'm certain that if I don't have an exact fit, I probably have one I can adapt. Could you please tell me what is the ISY-99's DC voltage range, its required current and the polarity on the connector? -GA Link to comment
