GregE Posted August 19, 2017 Posted August 19, 2017 I won a Google Home and it should be arriving soon. If I want to be able to control my Insteon lights through my ISY I will need to get the ISY Portal, correct? I don't currently have that module. Is the ISY Portal good for anything else? Thanks Quote
stusviews Posted August 19, 2017 Posted August 19, 2017 Yes it is. Besides allowing for use of IFTTT, the portal provides a secure off-site connection to your ISY without having to set up your router nor install a security certificate. Quote
apostolakisl Posted August 19, 2017 Posted August 19, 2017 (edited) You don't have to have the portal. But it requires you set up a security certificate on your ISY (not a big deal, but its something) and port forward 443 to your ISY. IFTTT can then talk directly to your ISY using REST. GregE Posted August 23, 2017 Author Posted August 23, 2017 I just noticed that there is a way to connect with Universal Devices and also with Mobilinc. I don't need both for Google Home, right? I do use Mobilinc on my Galaxy S7 Edge to control my ISY. That all stays the same. If I choose between them for Google Home, is one better than the other? Thanks Quote
Jimbo.Automates Posted August 23, 2017 Posted August 23, 2017 You don't need both. Agave is way better on Android then Mobilinc and Agave works perfectly with the UDI Portal, which also works very well with Google Home. Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk Quote

Thanks This is based on the portal you subscribe to, not the app you use. If you subscribe to 'Mobilinc Connect' - you need to connect Google Home with Mobilinc. If you subscribe to 'ISY Portal' - you need to connect Google Home to Universal Devices. If you don't subscribe to either portal, neither will work... Quote
GregE Posted August 29, 2017 Author Posted August 29, 2017 Thanks all. I went with the ISY Portal and I've got it all set up and running. Love telling Google Home to turn lights on and off. Quote
