arw01 Posted October 13, 2017 Posted October 13, 2017 SOOOO FRUSTRATING.. Lost a front door switch that is freaking out, must be about the 5th one up there over the years.Into my stash and I pull out a brand new bought from Smarthome 8 Button Dual band dimmer keypad to replace it with. I have wired this new switch to an insteon bedside keypad standy/boxie type thing and plugged it into the exact same outlet as the plm.All I get is a few beeps and cannot determine insteon engine. While I am writing this is leaves the programming mode on a time out, and then I try it one more time with logging all the way up, and guess what, it adds it! UGG..

This indicates a communication problem between the device and the PLM. The firmware version on the device shows v.00 which means that the PLM and the device are not communicating. Either you have interference on the powerline or the PLM signal is not reaching the device. If the latter is the case then you need to make sure that the two sides of your powerline are bridged. Take a look at this troubleshooting link https://wiki.universal-devices.com/index.php?title=INSTEON:_Troubleshooting_Communications_Errors .
Brian H Posted October 13, 2017 Posted October 13, 2017 If you have the new KeypadLinc in a table top case and connected to the same outlet as the PLM. You may want to verify. The Firmware and UI versions are the same and the latest available. V4.6.2 for the latest release version for the ISY994i hardware line. Have you tried the Link Management drop down list, Add New device method? With Event Viewer in Level 3 may also show added information on what is happening.
arw01 Posted October 13, 2017 Author Posted October 13, 2017 It' up and going and working better than the last switch. Maybe I will order a new PLM on black friday here and get the latest and greatest. Have many access points around the house and since this switch and the plm were into the same outlet, it was just FRUSTRATING..
Brian H Posted October 13, 2017 Posted October 13, 2017 One thing to take into consideration. For future reference. As I don't think it is the problem you are now having. The 2443 Access Point Hardware Revision 2.0 and above. Is built on the same base 2413 main board and is subject to the same power supply problems as the 2413S PLM. I had two of mine die and had to rebuild them from the long thread here.
