Purchased the ISY994i

I just purchased a ISY994i... let the fun begin. I also ordered an On/Off module to replace the one that just died. The light goes from Red to Green when activated, but there is no voltage on the output 120VAC recepticle. That one only lasted 4 months. Is there an easy fix for the On/Off unit? Or, do I start tearing it apart for research... The RF section works ok. Maybe the relay died... time to get the meters out. Now my curiosity is going crazy.

So, i guess I had better start reading. I still have a bunch of X10 modules that need replacing $$$$$$. Then I need to set it up with my BrulTech Energy Monitor.

When I need Z-wave, I will add the module at a later date.

What type of load do you have plugged into the on/off module.  How are you measuring the voltage?

If both modules lasted less than the two year warranty. Unless you bought Refurbished modules with the thirty day exchange only warranty.

You should be able to get warranty exchanges for both of them.

If you want to see internal photos and other things about the 2635-222 On/Off Module. The information is in the FCC Database.

I measured it 3 ways (across Hot/Neutral.. and then Ground)

- With a 60 watt bulb (incandescent), showed about 1.4 Volts

- With the garden water pump (about 50 watts), showed about 1.4 volts

- Right at the receptacle (which should not give me a reading without a load), showed about 1.4 volts

I have to check if the relay is getting a voltage to activate it.

What's the model number and the 4 digit date code on the module. Where did you buy it?

Too late for an Amazon return. Check with SH for the warranty status. It should be two years.

I would check with Smarthome on a warranty first.

You should be able to hear the relay go On and Off. When you use the local On Off buttons on the side. That would give an indication that the relay is being activated with out disassembly of the module.

If you do take it apart and put the warranty in question.

Be extremely careful doing power On tests.

Some of the modules with power line derived supplies. Have the Logic +5 connected directly to the AC Line input.

Some of the older Insteon On/Off modules {2456S3} have a RC Snubber across the relay and a high impedance meter will read an AC voltage even Off.

Not sure about the newer model module you have. I do know I see about 1.6VAC on the outlet when Off on mine.

There is no click from the relay when I activate the module... that was my first guess. I will check with Insteon about the warranty.
