Google Home installation not working

I am trying to re-install ISY on a Google home. I deleted the ISY because it was not working and added it again but it keeps telling me "something went wrong. Try again" after I logged in to the ISY portal as part of the process.

Are there any known issues?

Happened to me this week.  Google Home support helped doing a factory reset of the GH device and that did the deal. ISY works again with GH.

After performing the factory reset (pressing the mute button till GH turns full orange), follow the steps in the GH App.

If you have more than 1 GH device, then before doing a factory reset on the first GH, disconnect the power on the other GH device(s). After completing adding ISY back on the GH, then reconnect power to the next GH device and repeat the factory reset procedure on this next GH device.

I can not seem to find the post. Can you send me a link.

For everyone's benefit, I finally sorted it out with Google Home support (U.S.: 1-855-971-9121) when I realized that the problem was not just with ISY but also with my Nest thermostats.

We did a factory reset on my Google Home (press button at back of Google Home till lights go full orange), and then follow the steps in the Google Home App to set up the Google Home device.

After that, both Nest thermostats and my ISY devices work again with Google Home.

If you have more than one Google Home device,  before doing the factory reset on the first Google Home, make sure to disconnect power from your other Google Home device(s).  When first Google Home factory reset is complete, then power the other and perform same factory reset.

I have done a reset of the Google Home unit twice. I have removed all of my ISY Portal "Google Home" devices on the ISY and created just a single new one. This ISY used to work perfectly in the past pretty much when ISY released the Google Home compatibility. I also reset the ISY and non of this helped.

The Amazon Echo works on this ISY.

The portal works with the ISY.

I have installed several of these for customers and this is the first time I have run in to this problem. It is a very early installation so that might be a factor?

do a factory reset of the GH

I just tried it again with my iPhone 7 and it failed. It let me uninstall it but not reinstall it.

I was able to install the ISY again on my iphone 6.

I am going to remove the app and install it again.

do a factory reset of the GH

I ddi that twice. It looks like an app issue. I am experimenting now and I will report back.

I have just reinstalled the app (removed it and reinstalled it) and that solved the issue.

It definitely appears to be a GH issue because when ISY stopped working with GH, my Nest thermostats also stopped working.

I would agree. Re-install is the answer if you are having an issue with Google.

We should add this to the FAQ.

If Google Home stops working with the ISY; reset the device by holding down the mute button and then delete and reinstall the app on your smart phone. Then reinstall everything.

One thing I found the other day which working thru the odd network events my recent foray into using Kibana was that the Google Home HARDCODES its DNS server to the Google DNS (8.8.8.8). In doing do, it ignores any DNS process on your router.

This sucks for me, as I tried locking down outbound DNS from all lan devices (there is no reason any should be using anything other than my router) and the Google Home stopped working very quickly.

  • 4 weeks later...

i've had mobilinc working with google home assistant, added a few more devices, unlink/re-link... not working anymore.

i did the 'ok google ask mobi-linc connect to ref...' no problem,

then go to google home app, home control, add mobilinc help app. does not add, get a notification that 'NO items to sync with google assistant'

...so i'm not sure what happened, didn't do anything different. even tried factory resetting the google home device.

...and i added the voice commands to the 'notes' section of each device as i did before.

i figure i'm missing a step or something because i just can't move forward from here.

and help would be appreciated.

Thank-you

You might want to ask in one of the Mobilinc specific forums, as many Mobilinc users may not follow the Google Home forum.
