Failed to add device, reason 3

So,

I wanted to replace a lamp linc with an dimmer outlet 2472D. When I try to find it with my ISY994i it is a no go. I recently updated firmware and UI to most recent 4.6.2. I reset the outlet dimmer to factory default but it did not help. I checked the outlet dimmer by linking it manually to two different switches, each one on a different phase of my house panel, but close to the outlet. It responds to those switches. I took the lamplinc that I am replacing and literally plugged it into the non-dimming half of the outlet. I am still able to communicate with the lamplinc and control it but cannot commission the outlet dimmer in the ISY994i. I am really just sort of a hobbyist so this may be a little over my head. I have included an event log from one of the attempts to add the outlet dimmer to my ISY but all I can see is that the outlet does not respond to attempts to communicate.

I traced all of the failed writing messages back to remotelinc's. Can anybody see anything else in the log that I am not able to pick up on?

Thanks,

By, "I can't find it with my ISY," I'm guessing that you are unable to add the 2472D as a device? If so, then what to the RemoteLincs have to do with it?

Posted

Yes, You are correct I cannot add the 2472D as a device. The comment about the remote linc is just that. A comment. I  routinely have communication warnings about motion detectors and remote linc. My assumption is that those are normal and not indicative of a larger network wide communication issue. Am I wrong? Do you have any advice about the outlet dimmer problem?

In your post. In the Event Log. I see the PLM getting the command to send an Insteon message and the PLM sending an ACK that it was valid and sent.

I do not see any SRX Standard Message or ERX Extended Insteon Message received back from the module.

You may want to double check the six digit Insteon ID on the label and see if it is correct. I have misread a few myself.

You may also want to try the other method of adding it.

Start Linking

Hold Set Button on the 2472D until it links.

Stop the Start Linking function and see it it will then be added.

Thank you. I will double check the address. I need to just start taking pictures of them. Also I will try the linking method that you suggest. Thanks for the advice.
