LampLinc load sensing reports status to ISY

I'm happy to report that I have a LampLinc with a rev 4.3 sticker (firmware reported as v33 in the ISY) that is also a controller - it reports state changes when the load sensing feature turns ON/OFF.

If you have a LampLinc with firmware v33 or higher, it should support this as well. Full support from the ISY will come with a future firmware update.

In the meantime, however, you can utilize this functionality in the ISY if you add the device manually (via Insteon address) and force the device type to a 2476D SwitchLinc Dimmer.

Hi Mike,

can you explain how we can use this feature?

Thank you,

Hello Burak,

This will be useful for anyone who uses Local Control with a LampLinc. With this feature implemented the ISY will be aware when someone uses local control. Devices can be linked to the LampLinc as responders, so one lamp plugged into a LampLinc could turn on a scene.

Any idea if the module reports state changes when controlled via the X10 address? (Just thinking through possible solutions to my issue of the PLM not picking up X10 commands from my alarm that is posted in the X10 forum.)

I have an Insteon module with an X10 address that reports its status change via X10. I've been doing that for a number of years now. It's an appliance module but I've also done it with an older Lamp module. I use this to indicate that all the living room lamps should be turned on or off.

Yes the X10 status is reported. For Switchlincs.

Never tested my older ApplianceLincs or LampLincs.

I found a Q&A on how the older Switchlinc Dimmers act. Not sure about the latest revision ones.

Biggest difference is using the Local Paddle to dim or brighten. It does not send a stream of bright or dim commands many X10 modules use. When the paddle is released it send a single X10 %Preset Dim command. If dimmed to 0% or brightened to 100% an X10 off or on is sent and not the %Preset Dim. Most X10 modules have no clue on how to handle a % Preset Dim Command. The Smarthome X10 only and Insteons with an X10 address should know how to handle the % Preset Dim.

My older revision SwitchLinc Relay Modules send an X10 on or off when the paddle is locally toggled.
