stusviews Posted November 30, 2017 Posted November 30, 2017 Benoit, Thanks again for the speedy response. Can annoying Amazon help? That's us being pests, not UDI Stu 1 Quote

bmercier Posted November 30, 2017 Author Posted November 30, 2017 You could have an ISY scene that shows up in Alexa as a light. This allows things like implicit targeting; “Alexa, lights off” for example does not work on scenes, but if that scene becomes a lightning device, then it would turn off. stusviews Posted November 30, 2017 Posted November 30, 2017 Does that mean that if I place one otherwise unused "light device" in a few scenes, that I could then issue a successful Off command for that scene? Quote
bmercier Posted November 30, 2017 Author Posted November 30, 2017 Does that mean that if I place one otherwise unused "light device" in a few scenes, that I could then issue a successful Off command for that scene? No. What this will allow you to do is: In ISY, you have a scene. In Alexa, that scene will appear like a regular lighting device. What does that mean? It means that: - In Alexa, the scene will appear with a light icon (It has another icon, and shows up under scenes, instead of devices) - If you ask "Alexa, lights off", it will be turned off (scenes are not turned off or on by such a command) - In a Routine, you will be able to add it and choose to turn it off. (scenes can only be activated, not deactivated) Benoit 2 Quote

Goose66 Posted December 3, 2017 Posted December 3, 2017 (edited) Working for me too. I appreciate the responsiveness of this update! Edited December 3, 2017 by kingwr 1 Quote
toflaherty Posted December 3, 2017 Posted December 3, 2017 Working well! Thank you! Every ISY scene that I configure as an Alexa light now works properly in each Alexa group when I say "turn the lights on/off" in a room. One issue I am having, which seems to be on the Amazon side and not the ISY portal side, is that when I have an ISY program configured as an Alexa scene in the portal, that scene shows up properly under alexa app/smart home/scenes, but I can not control it via Routine/Smart Home/Turn on scene. For some reason in that menu, the scene doesn't show up in the list. If this is already a known issue/already reported to Amazon, then disregard. I'll continue poking around with a work-around, like maybe making my program a light in alexa instead of a scene. This is all still rather confusing, but with the help of this forum I've been able to get nearly everything working exactly how I want it to. Thanks everyone (especially Benoit for v3/portal update!) toflaherty Posted December 3, 2017 Posted December 3, 2017 OK, update to above post. Thanks to this amazing ISY portal update, changing my ISY program to an Alexa light instead of an Alexa scene allows me to run the ISY program within an Alexa routine. Thanks UDI for making this so flexible and useful! Unfortunately the Alexa app really complicates things when coming from an ISY background, but it's amazing that UDI is able to make everything work so well given all of Amazon's API restrictions. I really wish Amazon didn't force the thermostat functionality change, but the rest of my Alexa/ISY system is working exactly how I want it to now. 3 Quote
