Moshe Posted December 19, 2017 Posted December 19, 2017 I am having an issue where I am unable to discover devices using a Sonos One. I have added one device in the ISY portal and linked "ISY Optimized for Smart Home V2" with Alexa. I have also tried V3 but I am still unable to discover the one device in the portal. Alexa Device: Sonos One Device added: SwitchLink - 2477D Spoken: master bedroom Skill: ISY Optimized for Smart Home V2" It shows online and registered in the ISY admin page. I have also removed the the ISY skill and re-enabled. Does anybody know if the Sonos one is compatiable with ISY? Quote
giomania Posted December 19, 2017 Posted December 19, 2017 Not sure if this helps, but did you see the thread (paraphrasing) “No devices discovered using V3”, which outlines some complications using V3. I really wish Sonos would have used a different name for this, like Sonos 1A (for Alexa)! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote
stusviews Posted December 19, 2017 Posted December 19, 2017 That's somewhat different from what you posted on the other forum. You're a bit clearer now. So, the same question, did you install the Sonos skill? And which of the two devices you mentioned is the one device that you are unable to discover? Is it the Sonos or is it the switch Quote
Moshe Posted December 19, 2017 Author Posted December 19, 2017 stusviews - Thanks for replying. I have both the SONOS and ISY Optimized for Smart Home V2 skill enabled. I am trying to discover the switch. Quote
stusviews Posted December 20, 2017 Posted December 20, 2017 Moshe, Have you added any Insteon device to the Alexa app or is the SwitchLinc the first and only Insteon device, so far? And are you still on ISY skill v.2? Quote
Moshe Posted December 20, 2017 Author Posted December 20, 2017 stusviews - The Sonos One is new to me. I have not been able to add any Insteon devices to the Alexa app and I am on ISY skill v.2. I figure I would start slow and then add more once I get the hang of things. Quote
stusviews Posted December 20, 2017 Posted December 20, 2017 Just to verify: you added the SwitchLinc to the portal and gave it a spoken, yes? Can you control the SwitchLinc from the ISY (i.e., turn the load on/off)? Can you also dim and brighten the load from the ISY? If all the above is true, then, from the Alexa app. forget and then discover. But it's really best if you start with ISY v.3. The procedure is nearly the same. In order, forget all devices, disable the v.2 skill, enable the v.3 skill and, finally, discover. Quote
Moshe Posted December 20, 2017 Author Posted December 20, 2017 I added the SwitchLink to the portal. The spoken name is master bedroom. I can control the switch from the ISY. What do you mean by forget and discover in the Alexa app? Quote
Moshe Posted December 20, 2017 Author Posted December 20, 2017 I disabled v2 and enabled v3. I am still unable to discover the SwitchLink. Quote
stusviews Posted December 20, 2017 Posted December 20, 2017 Just enabling and disabling the skills is not adequate. Doing it in the order I specified, including forgetting all devices (even if there are none) really matters. I don't know why it matters so much, but the posts about installing ISY v.3 are pretty convincing. Quote
Moshe Posted December 20, 2017 Author Posted December 20, 2017 I do not see an option to forget devices. What do you mean by this. What I did is disabled the v2 skill and then enabled the v3 skill. I do not see any way of forgetting the devices. Quote
ScottAvery Posted December 20, 2017 Posted December 20, 2017 Forgetting devices is done only through a web browser at alexa.amazon.com or echo.amazon.com. There is a difference between how v2 and v3 authenticate your user account. Are you successfully linking the accounts? I ultimately had to disable the v2 style linking because it was conflicting with v3 for me. If you have pop-up blocker on, you may not be getting all the way through the process of enabling the skills. Quote
ScottAvery Posted December 20, 2017 Posted December 20, 2017 (edited) Also, are you using UDI's portal or Mobilinc portal? The instructions you are being given are for UDI portal: my.isy.io -> connections -> amazon Edited December 20, 2017 by ScottAvery Quote
Moshe Posted December 20, 2017 Author Posted December 20, 2017 ScottAvery - I don't recall seeing a forget option using alexa.amazon.com I will check again. I also need to make sure pop-up blocker is off. I am using UDI's portal my.isy.io. I will try again let you know what I find. Can someone send me a screen shot of the forget option. Quote
ScottAvery Posted December 20, 2017 Posted December 20, 2017 Can't post graphic, but it is on the Devices sub-tab of the alexa.amazon.com Smart Home tab. "Forget All" is at the bottom of the page if you have devices. Yours will be blank if you never found a device to begin with, so there won't be a forget option. Your account isn't connecting. if you had your account linked v1/v2 style it would find devices even without the skill enabled. V3 requires logging into UDI Portal(once) from the Alexa page after you enable the skill. It then tells you that you can close the page. Did that ever happen? The device you define in portal also needs to be in the right place, under connections / Amazon Quote
Moshe Posted December 20, 2017 Author Posted December 20, 2017 I did get the message that I can close the page after I logged into the UDI portal. I need to check that the device is in the correct location in the UDI portal. I don't remember seeing this. Quote
ScottAvery Posted December 20, 2017 Posted December 20, 2017 (edited) I notice you only stated you could control the device from the ISY. Can you control it from the portal? Is that what you mean by it is online and registered? Edited December 20, 2017 by ScottAvery Quote
Moshe Posted December 21, 2017 Author Posted December 21, 2017 So I have disabled the Sonos skill and ISY v3 skill. Re-enabled both skills and still can not discover the SwitchLink. Quote
stusviews Posted December 21, 2017 Posted December 21, 2017 (edited) There's no way to control anything directly from the portal. Edit: ScottAvery is correct, there's no Forget All if nothing has ever been detected. Edited December 21, 2017 by stusviews Quote
ScottAvery Posted December 21, 2017 Posted December 21, 2017 (edited) You have remote access to the web console through the portal if the portal account is active and approved. ISY Web Access, top option. My point is moot though, as he was able to select devices. Edited December 21, 2017 by ScottAvery Quote
stusviews Posted December 21, 2017 Posted December 21, 2017 I'd link to run through one more verification. 1. From the Administrative Console, after selecting Configuration. Portals, there's a box similar to this one: True/False 2. After logging into the portal, there's an image similar to: True/False Quote
Moshe Posted December 21, 2017 Author Posted December 21, 2017 In the Administrative Console - True In the portal - True, Under the header "Room" it is blank.. Quote
ScottAvery Posted December 21, 2017 Posted December 21, 2017 (edited) In the Administrative Console - True In the portal - True, Under the header "Room" it is blank.. Room is optional when you fill it in. not used for anything yet. If you are indeed seeing a device on the amazon echo connection, then I am out of ideas. something must be disabled somewhere. Try adding more devices and scenes... You didn't use a reserved word for the spoken did you? Edited December 21, 2017 by ScottAvery Quote
Moshe Posted December 22, 2017 Author Posted December 22, 2017 All - Issue resolved. Steve from UDI worked with me yesterday. Ultimately my Amazon ID was not linking. Reset SONOS One to factory default and started over with correct Amazon account. Thanks to all for your help. Quote
ScottAvery Posted December 22, 2017 Posted December 22, 2017 Good news, and that was probably the only way to resolve this, so kudos to UDI again. Quote
