Keypad Toggle Setup for Scenes

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I hope you can help me again.

For simplicity, I have a simple scene: 1 responder (lightbulb), and 2 controllers (2 keypads).

When I click Keypad A, the bulb turns ON, and Keypad A & B turn ON as well. Exactly how I want it.

Now, if from Admin I turn the Device bulb OFF, the keypads keep their OFF status. Why is this happening? Of course if I turn the scene off in Admin everything works fine.

For scenes with more responders, I'd like to have all my keypads that control the scene to only be OFF when all responders in the scene are OFF, if even one device is ON the keypad button should be lit up.

This becomes very useful with alexa...

I can have 3 devices in alexa, that I can turn on, off, dim, and brighten separately but also have a scene in alexa to turn all on or off at once.

I've tried a program but it looks like keypad buttons, in Actions, only have the option to change the Backlight level which I was never able to get working.

Thanks!

So I think I figured it out.

I created a dummy scene and added my 2 keypad buttons as responders. In my program, if the Device is off, turn off the dummy scene, if on/dimmed, turn it on. I hope this is the cleanest way to create this. Thanks!

Turning a device on or off affects only that specific device, not any of its links. If you want to concurrently control more than one device. then add the device(s) to a scene and control only the scene.

BTW, I don't have any inkling what a "dummy scene" is.
