“iDevices, the preeminent brand in the connected home industry, is integrating voice service capabilities directly into the walls of any room. When a standard light switch is replaced with the Instinct, users gain the functionality of a smart light switch, standalone voice assistant, ambient light sensor and motion detector — all in one product.”

Kind of on the fence since they use WiFi. So this device is universal for many but ideally they would support a home automation protocol like Z-Wave / ZigBee.

Not a bad looking switch and this will be just the beginning of similar Alexa enabled hardware. I've decided to go the other route by using outlets for Alexa support. 2018 will be very interesting for those of us interested in voice control.

Yes my builder is installing these in all of their new homes, so it looks like there a big push into custom built homes.  Instead of doing three way switches they are just putting the switches in one location, and having it all be voice activated via Alexa.  Looks like the prices are coming down.  If the builder doesn't offer a credit for the idevices, I'll be on here looking to integrate with I'm guessing the polygate rPi solution.
