Andrew Posted February 25, 2018 Posted February 25, 2018 Had it working in the past, but just got my PLM working again... Anyway, I can't seem to connect my Mini Remote now. I've followed these instructions. Any help appreciated.
stusviews Posted February 25, 2018 Posted February 25, 2018 Have you endured that the battery is fully charged? At what point are you having a difficulty? What is the specific problem? If you had it working, why are you adding it again instead or restoring it?
Andrew Posted February 26, 2018 Author Posted February 26, 2018 The remote was charging for quite some time. The light didn't go out, but everything appeared to blink and beep as expected. Having difficulty when I enter the address and name - and either: 1) It tells me the address is invalid (even if it's typed precisely) 2) Nothing happens I had to reset the PLM and restoring the remote didn't work, so I deleted it, figuring I'd re-link it.
stusviews Posted February 26, 2018 Posted February 26, 2018 How are you entering the device's Insteon ID. You don't need to use the actual ID, but the specific format is critical. That the red LED on the remote didn't go out is also troubling. It could be end-of-life for the battery.
Andrew Posted February 26, 2018 Author Posted February 26, 2018 Hi Stu - I'm entering exactly as it appears on the device; I have no idea if I have to use the actual ID, but it seems to give me an error every other try. I doubt it's end-of-life of the battery as I haven't used it much, probably never charged it since it was new.
Brian H Posted February 26, 2018 Posted February 26, 2018 Double check the Insteon ID. The latest lables are better but the older ones. Sometimes characters maybe misread. Like B or 8. Also use a . between the groups of two characters when entering the ID. Like 12.B4.EF
Andrew Posted February 26, 2018 Author Posted February 26, 2018 Ah! Maybe the periods are it... mine has dashes. I'll try it out.
stusviews Posted February 26, 2018 Posted February 26, 2018 The Insteon ID on the device shows dashes?
Brian H Posted February 26, 2018 Posted February 26, 2018 My early Insteon modules use a period between the three sets of two ID characters. I know a period works in my ISY994i Administrative Console 'Add a Device' function. Just tried adding a test module address. The dash between the three sets of two ID characters. Got an invalid address format message. A period or space between them did try to add the module. Don't know if the Alpha 5.? can do more my 4.6.2 will not use a dash.
