Mobilinc Disconnected. Attempting to reconnect to ISY

This has been happing late.  When I try to open my mobilinc I get the following error "Mobilinc Disconnected.  Attempting to reconnect to ISY".  When that happens I restart the ISY and it works again.  But this has been happening often.  Does this have to do with the mobilinc servers or my ISY.  I can still connect to my ISY via my web browser.

Hi BigEfromDaBx,

First, please make sure you are running the latest ISY firmware. To upgrade, log into the ISY's Admin Console and go to Help->Automatically Update.

If you continue to have issues, this can happen in cases where the ISY's internet access or power has been interrupted. Once the local network, internet access, and power is restored to the ISY, the ISY will automatically attempt to reconnect to our servers.

If you continue to have this problem, please try the following:

- If your ISY is DHCP IP assigned (default), please reboot your network equipment including your router and modem, and then restart your ISY. Wait 5 minutes and try MobiLinc again.
- If your ISY is fixed IP assigned, please use the Google Open DNS IP for the ISY's DNS IP address: 8.8.4.4
- If you have any port forward rules set up in your router that point to the ISY, please turn these off.
- If you open the ISY’s Admin Console and go to Help->About and see that “Internet Access” is “Enabled”, go to File->Disable Internet Access to turn off. This is a UPnP feature that is opening up a port forward rule in the router. This should be “Disabled” for MobiLinc Connect.
- Reboot and verify the router and any other network equipment is updated with the latest firmware from the manufacturer.

If after performing the above your ISY does not reconnect, please send us the following to our support email (support@mobilinc.com):
- A screenshot of the ISY’s Admin Console->Help->About page.
- The ISY’s Error Log

Wes,

i get get this same error message quite often myself when connected to my ISY on my local network. Seems to happen even more when I have a weak WiFi signal or while on cellular. I do not have the MobiLinc Connect portal but do have UDI's portal. Sometimes while the app is open, I'm able to control one device, then suddenly can't control the next and get this error message.

Hi Mike,

This error message happens in any condition where the network can't make the round trip connection from MobiLinc to the ISY either on a direct IP or through MobiLinc Connect. MobiLinc also has an always-connected socket connection back to the ISY over direct IP or MobiLinc Connect for real-time status updates. If this gets disconnected by network equipment in the middle or from a weak cell or Wi-Fi signal then when MobiLinc is disconnected, this message will appear as well as MobiLinc attempts to reconnect.

Hey Wes,

Thanks for the response.  I did everything above.  I cant find the Help->Automatically Update.  But I am attaching a snapshot of my firmware.  My ISY has always been a static ip and I never had issues.  The only thing I changed was the DNS server to google's DNS.  Once I changed the DNS it rebooted and worked.  I cant see it being a network issues because I can contact my isy through my browser.  So maybe it does have to do with DNS and the ISY cant see outside my home.  I will keep you posted if it happens again.

Thanks, BigEfromDaBx,

Your firmware is up to date so that you won't see the "Automatically Update" option.

Glad the DNS change did the trick. This is the most common solution to the connection issue. If the ISY can't resolve DNS, then it won't be able to connect to internet services like the pool time servers or our MobiLinc Connect service.

So I removed my linksys router from the equation and now im directly connected to ATT uverse router and the mobilic does not see the ISY not matter how many times I reboot it.  Is there a way to test to see if the isy is seeing the internet?  I can access the isy from my browser with no problem.

Hi BigEfromDaBx,

Send me the ISY's error log and that will help inform us as to what issues the ISY is running into: support@mobilinc.com

Also, please send me a screenshot of your Help->About page as well.

Wes

Nevermind.  I figured it out.  My linksys router was set to 192.168.4.1 and I set the uverse router to 192.168.1.254.  So when I changed the uverse router to 192.168.4.x i changed the router ip on the uverse router to 192.168.4.254 instead of 192.168.4.1 like my old router.

Everything works good now.  Will update if i have any issues.

Thanks for the response Wes,

I must have very poor 5ghz network coverage around my home for MobiLinc to stay connected. I have been getting so many disconnects lately MobiLinc has been almost unusable. This started more recently so it could also be a problem with my router. I'll try my 2.4ghz network to see if there is any improvement.

Wes - I am having a similar issue with my Mobilinc to ISY connection.  Confirmed I am running v4.6.2 on the firmware side.  This issue started after I re-applied my subscription so there must be a config somewhere.  I did notice the portal integration module is inactive however my sub is good until 2021 on my phone.

There can be only one....

When you added the ISY Portal, you likely clicked past the screen that said it would disable MobiLinc Connect. As Wes said - UDI Sales can get you sorted out and switch you back (this will disable the ISY Portal). You will have to decide which to keep.

I’m having similar issues. I’ve been running mobile link pro with Universal devices for over a decade with very few issues. Over the last few months about half the time when I open The app on my phone it can take anywhere from 30 seconds to several minutes for it to load the status of my devices and it may crash during the process. It doesn’t seem to hold the data it’s like it’s rebooting every time. I haven’t had any system changes recently that I can think of.  I can double check but I believe I’m on the most recent firmware for my UDI. I’m using the same DNS service that I’ve had for years so I don’t believe that’s a factor. I’ve reloaded the app, cycled power, but nothing seems to work.  any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. After all these years you just get used to things working the way they should so it’s a constant source of frustration when I can’t turn things on and off or my alarm doesn’t set automatically.

I had the same issue after I upgraded to 5.0.15A. The solution for me was to delete MobiLinc and all data from each iOS device and then add it back one at a time.

Also, my ISY error log would have an error trail when it was happening. Take a look at it for repeating cycle. Can’t recall the exact errors.

I deleted the app from my phone reinstalled it and then copied the settings from the app on my iPad which seems to function perfectly all the time. Everything worked fine on my phone until I closed the app and reopened it. Then everything needed to sync again from scratch. In fact I needed to re-send the settings from my iPad. It’s like my iPhone doesn’t save any of the settings and it has to reboot when I open the app. In reality this doesn’t happen all the time I had about 72 hours up until this morning where each time I opened  the app it loaded the status of devices quickly and worked  flawlessly Now I’m back to where it takes several minutes for it to update status of devices and respond to commands. Additionally I believe my wife’s iPhone is working fine. She doesn’t use the app very much so it’s not definitive but I have yet to see it have a problem.  The app is version 4.17.

One other odd aspect of this issue is that the today view or whatever it’s called when you swipe down from the top of your iPhone and it shows a handful of extended screen commands almost always works regardless if I can get the app to function.  To clarify if I open the app and can’t get any of the commands on my dashboard to function I can swipe down to the extended screen and more often than not those commands will work.

I’m not using MobiLinc portal but I did have similar problems with DHCP errors every 5 seconds...

What router?

Are you using DHCP reservations in the router?

Is ISY set to static IP address or DHCP?

Edit: probably also relevant - does this happen on the LAN or is this only through internet WAN and mobilinc portal?

You are very gracious to reply. However, I just checked things prior to getting back on to reply to you and, after being down all day, I'm inexplicably back up and running. Still good to know someone's out there...
