Cannot access Admin Console

I purchased the Portal module and was asked to update Java.

When I click on the start.jnlp, javaws.exe opens and the window below opens, but closes when I click OK. Nothing happens.

I cleaned the Java cache as instructed.

I run Windows 7 with Java 8, Update 181.

>>> Note: Entering the following in the Command prompt:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre1.8.0_181\bin>javaws C:\Users\hchain\Desktop\start.jnlp

opens the ISY Finder, then left clicking on the ISY opens the Admin Console.

Any idea on how to create the usual shortcut that the start.jnlp is supposed to create?

Thanks!

I have the good Java (8-181)

I did clear the cache as you indicate

but the icon is not created.

As indicated above, I need to go to the ISY Finder to launch the Admin Console.

When you click on this program it will place an icon on your desktop called "'ISY Launcher"  https://isy.universal-devices.com/start.jnlp

If that's not the case, then clear your java cache, including applications then run the above program again.

I did a fresh install of windows recently. So, I had to go through re-installing all my applications and device connections. I just tried installing the Admin Console and ran into the same issue. It worked previously for months without a problem. All of a sudden I can't get it to run or create a shortcut. I found this post while trying to find a resolution. This was the only reason I installed Java. I did a clean install of "181", cleared all three check boxes and rebooted my computer.

1. As posted above, I had to run it via command prompt: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre1.8.0_181\bin>javaws C:\Users\XXX\Desktop\start.jnlp"

2. ISY Launcher icon is created (Low resolution icon). No admin console Icon ever appears.

3. Each time I  launch the finder and left click the ISY in the list. The admin console appears.

The only icon that will be created on your desktop is "ISY Launcher"

You need to click on the isy launcher icon then on the red ISY. That will open a box that give you the option to run the admin console or the ISY dashboard.

I do get the "ISY Launcher" icon but it only generates this message:ISY.gif.f46ff0b8dc7f877f1dccb59e719b47da.gif

So far, I have created a batch file (same name, different icon on the above screen grab) containing:

cd C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre1.8.0_181\bin

javaws C:\Users\hchain\Desktop\start.jnlp

which brings me apparently to where the ISY Launcher should.

Note: To create a .bat file, create a .txt file with NotePad for instance, paste the above 2 lines (changing the paths as required), save, then change the .txt extension to .bat

Thanks for the clarification. I was used to the previous method that had an icon directly to the console.

Seems strange to add the additional clicks, but not a deal breaker. I don't use it that frequently.
