nasa01 Posted December 23, 2018 Posted December 23, 2018 Hi, I am having a couple of issues with setting up my new 4-n-1 sensor. I have successfully included it with my ISY994i... However, the temp, 78F, and lumes, 100%, don't make any sense. And I am not seeing any motion events. Finally, I don't see any node related to motion. I've attached a log from my ISY, with hopes it can help me figure this out. Thanks in advance, Nathan ISY-Events-Log.v5.0.13D__Sun 2018.12.23 09.17.06 AM.txt
jfai Posted December 23, 2018 Posted December 23, 2018 This device is battery-powered and out of the box it is configured to favor battery life over reporting intervals. By default it will report status only every few hours or when a sensor value changes by a relatively large amount. If you want the device to report more frequently, you need to configure it using the documented parameters.
nasa01 Posted December 23, 2018 Author Posted December 23, 2018 Thanks jfailenschmid, I had looked over the parameters listed on the included instructions -- which has the following parameters: Temperature Sensor Parameter 1: Use this parameter to switch from Fahrenheit to Celsius scale. Values: 0 – Celsius. 1 – Fahrenheit (default). Size: 1 byte dec. Parameter 2: Use it to set temperature change to be reported by the sensor. Values: 1 - 50 (where 1 stands for 0.1 degree and 50 stands for 5 degrees). Default set to 1 degree (value 10). The sensor will report new temperature value to the controller whenever temperature goes 1 degree up or down. Size: 1 byte dec. Humidity Sensor Reports relative humidity. Parameter 3: Use it to set humidity percentage change to be reported by the sensor. Values: 1 - 50 where 1 stands for 1% and 50 stands for 50%. Default set to 10%. Size: 1 byte dec. Light Sensor Reports light level in percentage (1-100). Parameter 4: Use it to choose light percentage change to be reported by the sensor. Values: 5 - 50 where 5 stands for 5% and 50 stands for 50%. Default set to 10%. Size: 1 byte dec. Motion Sensor Parameter 5: Use it to set trigger interval - the time when motion is reported again after initial trigger. Values: 15 - 60 where 15 stands for 15 seconds and 60 stands for 60 seconds. Default set to 15 seconds. Size: 1 byte dec. NOTE: Small interval will increase activity and decrease battery life. Parameter 6: Use it to adjust PIR sensor sensitivity. Values: 1 - 7, where 1 = very high sensitivity and 7 = very low sensitivity. Default set to 3. Size: 1 byte dec. LED notifications LED indicator will flash every 3 minutes or whenever you press the Z-Wave button to indicate temperature level. How to read LED indicator colors? Green = under 60°F Blue = 60°-75°F Yellow = 75°-83°F Purple = 83°-97°F Red = over 97°F / motion detected / tamper switch triggered Parameter 7: Use it to choose between LED indicator modes. Mode 1 = LED indicator is turned off (no visual notifications). Mode 2 = temperature indicated with pulsing light. Motion indicated with flashing light. Mode 3 = temperature and motion indicated with flashing light. Mode 4 = no indication for temperature, motion indicated with flashing light. Values: 1 - 4. Default set to 4. Size: 1 byte dec. NOTE: Mode 2 will increase activity and decrease battery life. Tamper Switch Tamper switch is activated whenever sensor’s cover is removed while the device is powered up. It will send an alarm notification as scheduled. -Having looked these over, I don't see a setting for initial motion detection and the default sensitivity isn't at it's lowest. What am I missing?
jfai Posted December 24, 2018 Posted December 24, 2018 These settings work for me: Parameter description ID Value Size Default/Changed Remarks Temperature change to be reported 2 2 1 Changed 0.2 degrees Fahrenheit. Default value 10 (1 degree) Humidity percentage change to be reported 3 5 1 Changed Default 10% Light percentage change to be reported 4 5 1 Changed Default 10% Motion trigger interval 5 15 1 Default Seconds PIR sensor sensitivity 6 1 1 Changed 1 (very high sensitivity) to 7. Default 3 LED indicator mode 7 2 1 Default Mode 2: temperature indicated with pulsing light. Motion indicated with flashing light. Mode 4 (default): no indicator for temperature, motion indicated with flashing light
nasa01 Posted December 25, 2018 Author Posted December 25, 2018 Hi, I tried to make changes to the parameters - but only got network errors. When I tried to manual "awake" the device, the log implied the ISY is putting it right back to sleep ?

I've been able to make changes successfully to this device by bringing the device in direct range of ISY, making the parameter change in ISY, then immediately hitting the wakeup button a couple of times. Note that the wakeup button is the one you have to use a paperclip or something similar to press, not the black button on the inside.
nasa01 Posted January 4, 2019 Author Posted January 4, 2019 Hi All... I worked with the guys at Zooz and discovered it was the sensor. They sent me a new one with a different firmware load -- and that worked right out of the box. Not sure if it was the hardware or updated firmware. Either way, it's working now.
nasa01 Posted January 10, 2019 Author Posted January 10, 2019 So, I got a couple more of these sensors -- and discovered one worked and the other didn't. The guys from Zooz, whom don't seem to own a ISY, asked if I could tell the firmware version of each sensors to ensure they are the same. I attempted to find firmware version by starting the event viewer; then right clicking on one of the nodes for the sensor, select z-wave, followed by show information in event viewer. The output is in the included text file. Is the line Firmware_update_md suppose to be the Firmware version? That's the closest thing I see there... Thanks in advance.
