Aeotec Smart Switch Control

I recently added 2 Aeotec Smart Switch 6 Z-wave Plus devices to my system.  I use one of them to monitor the status of my sump pump, and with the proper parameter settings it works well reporting pump status to my programs.  The other switch is simply a spare and I'm trying to use  it to turn a lamp on / off.  Even though it comes up on my UDI Admin console (ver 4.7.3) I can not toggle it on / off.  If I go to the switch and push the button, I can do a query on the admin console and see that it has changed state, but it will not update its status unless I do the query.

My question: Is it possible to control these switches from a program or from the admin console with my current version of the UDI admin console.

Thanks for any help,

Ron

I have one of these and found it can only be controlled under v5. I downgraded to v4 at some point and found this out.
Good idea on the sump pump monitor, I’m going to look into that.

Thanks for the advice.  Please see below for method I used to monitor my sump pump:

This isn't suggested for a medium sized network, but you can have Smart Switch 6 update itself every 5 seconds using these parameter settings:

Parameter 101 [4 byte dec] = 12 //report watt and kwh only

Parameter 111 [4 byte dec] = 5 //report the above every 5 seconds.

Disable threshold by setting Parameter 90 [1 byte dec] = 0

I am using the Smart Switch 6 to monitor / not control pump cycles. The pump only runs for about 10 seconds each time it starts and the query time of the smart switch appears to be close to 30 seconds. How can I adjust it to query every 5 seconds?

Hello,

This device does work as an on/off switch.  You'll need to install the original firmware version.  I don't recall what version it is ,but I've used these with great success.  Might be V1.01.   There is also info on this site regarding the correct version that works best.

PhanTomiZ,

Is it working with UDI version 4.7.3?  Being totally new to z-wave, can you tell me how I determine the firmware version of a device.  From the admin console I can see my z-wave information as:

Library     Static Controller

z-Wave Version   4.55

Bootloader Version  1.03

but I can't find anything for the individual z-wave devices.

Thanks,

Ron

I broke down and purchased the aeotec z stick.  Followed the supplied instructions and loaded firmware V1.01.

I use it specifically for both the aeotec multisensors and smart switches.

How to determine which version is already installed is something I'm not knowing.  Maybe someone can chime in on this.

P.S.  yes I'm using 4.7.3
