stealle Posted February 21, 2019 Posted February 21, 2019 (edited) I like the idea of being able to set up ISY to turn off my 220v electric water heaters and my 220v water well pump in the event that moisture is detected on my mechanical room floor. I see the Insteon 2477SA is discontinued? Anyone know why? I guess there are a few still for sale out there. I also discovered this product: https://innovativehomesys.com/collections/b-wired-in-devices/products/heavy-duty-208-240v-load-controller?variant=8125838196856 which appears to be third party load controller that they modified by installing an Insteon switch. They also make one with an Insteon outlet. What do you guy think about the product I linked? Do you have any other/better ideas for turning off an electric water heater and well water pump remotely and with the use of an Insteon water sensor switch? Edited February 21, 2019 by stealle
Brian H Posted February 21, 2019 Posted February 21, 2019 Another module that may assist you is an ELK 9200. It has a heavy duty 30 amp relay in it and can control a 220 volt load. Has a 120 volt coil and a standard AC cord on it. Controlled by an Insteon On/Off plug in module or another protocol like the old X10 Appliance Module. https://www.elkproducts.com/product-catalog/elk-9200-heavy-duty-relay-contactor Smarthome and other vendors do carry them. https://www.smarthome.com/elk-heavy-duty-relay-contactor-in-a-lockable-metal-structured-wiring-panel-enclosure.html The product you linked to. Looks interesting. Not much data on if it has relays in it or some AC Solid State Relays.
simplextech Posted February 21, 2019 Posted February 21, 2019 If you have the Z-Wave board there's the GE Heavy Duty relay and the Aeotec Heavy Duty relay: https://www.amazon.com/GE-Appliance-Required-Works-SmartThings-14285/dp/B00YTCZZF0/ref=asc_df_B00YTCZZF0/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=216539147262&hvpos=1o3&hvnetw=g&hvrand=4831132666293138423&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9009165&hvtargid=pla-351536326275&psc=1 https://www.amazon.com/Aeotec-Security-controller-electricity-consumption/dp/B00MBIRF5W I have no experience with either but I have thought of getting the Aeotec for a 240V wall heater... I still might.
adamthp Posted February 22, 2019 Posted February 22, 2019 (edited) I'm in the process of hooking up my air compressor in a similar fashion. I'm going to use one of the Insteon DIN rail on/off modules (2453-222) to trigger a 110 vac coil DIN rail contactor. Edited February 22, 2019 by adamthp
