Using Alexa for question and response to trigger event.

I was wondering if anyone has used Alexa for suggesting and then triggering an event.  Say I walk into a room with a motion sensor and it triggers a program to check to see if the fan is on, could you make Alexa ask you if you want the fan on and activate the program based on your response.  Hope I am explaining this correctly.  I could see several possible uses for this, another example is it announcing "I notice the bedroom temp is 2 degrees warmer then the main thermostat, would  you like me to adjust setpoint to X.  Just a thought I have been playing with  and was wondering if anyone had already done so?
