Posted September 9, 20196 yr I am setting up a brand new home automation system with the ISY994i. I'm using mostly Insteon devices, but when looking at motion sensors, I decided to give the Zooz ZSE39 a try since it was rated for outdoor installation - my primary use case. Since I didn't find any reports on using this unit with the ISY, I thought I'd post my findings. This is my first post to the forum and I'm not sure what everyone is looking for with respect to new device reports, so let me know if I can provide any other useful information. I'm' running 5.0.15A, and so far the ISY appears to be working well with the ZSE39. It created some nodes (e.g., Glass Break Alarm) that I don't think exist in the unit, but the motion sensing is working fine. However, there is one harmless but annoying problem. About once a day I get a message on the Admin Console saying that it can't communicate with the device. I've attached a snippet from the event log when one of these messages appears. The error occurs at 14:43:06. The unit is battery powered (I'm not using the provided USB adapter), and I haven't changed the wakeup interval from the default (4 hours according to the manual, I think). Other than this, the unit is working fine. I'll be happy to post more information about my experience with the unit once I've had it running long enough to know if it will be useful for my application. September 9, 20196 yr Apparently the ISY thinks the device is A/C powered rather than battery. Not sure if the device is fully supported by the ISY, but you may want to check for any configuration options for the device in the ISY which could change the type of power the device uses. F.Y.I. The Aeotec multisensor 6 if fully supported by the ISY but I don't think it's rated for wet locations Edited September 9, 20196 yr by Techman
September 9, 20196 yr I just took a look at the Zooz website. I think the device you have is the ZE29 not the ZE39 It's best to contact the Zooz tech support http://www.support.getzooz.com/new as they don't list the ISY as a compatible hub.
September 10, 20196 yr Oddly enough a lot of motion sensors get those same nodes created. It would be nice if the ISY would filter and not create those as they are not useful. Some of the Zooz motion sensors and the ZSE40 4-in-1 take a bit to start reporting their battery level just an FYI. I've also been working on a listing of verified devices that will soon be on the UD github (I need more time in a day). Please keep me posted on the status of the ZSE29

The Aeotec multisensor 6 if fully supported by the ISY but I don't think it's rated for wet locations I thought about the Multisensor 6 since my planned locations are all under the eve of the house (i.e., not directly exposed to rain), but the user manual suggests not using the motion sensing capability outdoors "to avoid false motion readings." However, it then goes on to provide guidelines on adjusting the motion sensitivity for use outdoors, so it might work. It's also only rated down to 32 F, but we don't go below that very often in San Antonio. I may give it a try if the Zooz doesn't work out. It might be nice to have the temperature and humidity, too.

I use the multisensory 6 outdoors and haven't had any issues. As long as it doesn't get wet you shouldn't have any problems. Its firmware is field upgradable and all its options are configurable via the ISY. They also have excellent technical support. The 32 F limitation is for the battery not the sensor. Most batteries don't perform well in freezing conditions. That will be the case for whatever brand you decide to use.
