palayman Posted November 8, 2019 Posted November 8, 2019 (edited) Hi, Purchased the ISY Portal when my Mobilinc Connect subscription ended. May reason for change was that ISY portal appeared to manage Room Information. Got Google Home connected and none of the room info arrived. WTF? Tried pushing spokens from the ISY portal and a google home "Update All Devices" to no avail. The UDI documentation is clearly out of date as the Google Home screen shots show no resemblance to the current Google Home implementation. Simple question: How do I get the room info from ISY portal transferred into google home? Paul PS Am I the only one that finds UDI web sites and the ISY portal, especially info regarding accounts, confusing and hard to use? Edited November 8, 2019 by palayman
lilyoyo1 Posted November 8, 2019 Posted November 8, 2019 I've personally never had a problem with it but I think stuff like that is individually based. What shows up in your Google home with your devices? I'm assuming you're assigning your room in the portal when adding the device. Is that correct?
palayman Posted November 8, 2019 Author Posted November 8, 2019 (edited) No room info showed up even though I assigned it in the Portal. Just the names. Had to assign all the room info within google home. Edited November 8, 2019 by palayman
brians Posted November 8, 2019 Posted November 8, 2019 As far as I understand you have to manage the rooms within Google (same with Amazon Alexa groups). ISY room naming is only used by MobiLinc. Has something changed? lilyoyo1 says it is working for him. I don't used Google anymore but am curious.

I understood it was used by ISY Portal and was the reason for including it in the portal. Only the name and GH Type seems to be getting set suing the portal info.

I got confused with spokens which are used by MobiLinc but not by isy portal.

I was referring to having a problem with finding needing info on udi's website. I shouldve been clearer. I stopped using google for new stuff. Amazons implementation is much better. Plus I dont like how google is closing off their ecosystem so im moving away from them. I dont think they update their info since these voice assistants change quite often. Its hard to keep up even when you do it constantly. Overall though, the process is still the same portal side. You do need to move the information to the individual rooms in google though as already mentioned.
MWareman Posted November 8, 2019 Posted November 8, 2019 If you have a room named in ISY Portal (assigned to devices) and a room of the same name in Google Home - the devices will be put into the room automatically. The room itself will not be created (to my knowledge). So, create empty rooms in Google Home then try the sync all devices.

I used all the same rooms that had been using with Mobilinc, so they all already existed. None of the devices ended up in a room defined be the ISY Portal. I am having to go through manually and assign each one - the big issue that I thought would be fixed when I changed from Mobilinc.

I still have both. I swapped out my homes for Sonos ones and switched to Alexa. Amazon allows for better customization. I still have my clock and a Google hub but I had to move on.
brians Posted November 9, 2019 Posted November 9, 2019 I agree, I switched from Google to Amazon last year (Google was first to Canada which is why I used first).
