roblombardo Posted January 3, 2020 Posted January 3, 2020 I bought the polisy only to use the ring node server initially. I figured I may grow into a few other nodes over time. As I go to the node store, I see no ring node server even though it was prominently listed in the marketing material. What gives?

roblombardo Posted January 5, 2020 Author Posted January 5, 2020 I am not new to the ISY platform, but I am not super familiar with some of the more complex add on services. I recently switched from portal to connect because I thought MobiLinc X looked interesting. Shortly after I realized it was no where near as good as MobiLinc Pro for my application. I have re-configured all my voice assistant stuff, so switching back will be painful. What I’m wondering now is can I Even use polyglot cloud with Connect? I fear I have been sold a bill of goods and made a poor decision?

I wanted to try out it’s new direct ip option but you can’t do that as a 14 day trial. Although, I think Apple still offers a x day money back warranty on all apps so there still may be an option for trialing. It appears to be iPhone only and I use iPad app almost exclusively while at home.
roblombardo Posted January 6, 2020 Author Posted January 6, 2020 MobiLinc X to me is just not nearly as mature as MobiLinc Pro. This is to be expected I guess, it’s not even close really. Just look at the dashboards:
hart2hart Posted January 6, 2020 Posted January 6, 2020 I see what you mean. I’ll give it time to mature.
MWareman Posted January 6, 2020 Posted January 6, 2020 What I’m wondering now is can I Even use polyglot cloud with Connect? I fear I have been sold a bill of goods and made a poor decision? No. Polyglot Cloud currently requires ISY Portal. This is because Polyglot Cloud gets its event subscription from ISY Portal. As Polyglot Is open source, I don’t think there is any reason Mobilinc couldn’t run their own Polyglot Cloud service bound to the Mobilinc Connect Portal (Mobilinc would need to get their own API key from Ring for this to work though). However, that’s something that has not been done and remains a differentiator between the two Portal systems. End result is if you want to use the Ring poly - you must have ISY Portal. One option is to buy a second ISY and hook that up to ISY Portal. You can message between the two ISYs with API calls. Or - forego the Ring Poly and integrate Ring to Mobilinc Connect via a service like IFTTT - though there can be significant delays with messaging thru a platform like IFTTT.

I do use IFTTT now, but it seems like a bit of a kluge. What irks me though, is Ring is specifically listed in the Polisy marketing materials, which to me implies that that node can run locally on it. Hell, I could’ve run polyglot cloud when I was using ISY portal and didn’t even need Polisy.
