ISY to IFTTT to Google Home

I would like to be able to program a button on my Insteon keypad to turn on my lights and then somehow trigger IFTTT which would then trigger a Google Assistant routine to run.

My current problem is that when I tell Google Home that I am home I have it run a routine starting with turning on my lights.  Turning on my lights this way is extremely slow and I am always trying to hang up my coat and find my slippers in the dark.  Universal Devices doesn't appear to take advantage of Google Home's local execution support.  Obviously, touching the keypad to invoke an ISY scene is very fast.  I want to be able to take advantage of turning on my lights immediately and then have that followed by multiple Google Home steps including turning on my music and gas fireplace.  I thought that I might be able to use IFTTT in the middle.  Any creative thoughts? .......Jackie

Why not have the isy do that itself? Using Ifttt would make it even slower than it is now. You can use Nodeservers (requires 5.0 newest firmware) and isy programs.

Currently, when I come home (assuming house is empty), the lights that I want will turn on as well as the tv. Depending on time, if it's late, the bedroom TV will turn on instead of the family room TV. The path to the bedroom will light up so I'm not walking in the dark and turn itself off.

Had I wanted to, this could've easily been music instead of TV's

While I have programs for when someone comes home and lights go ON (for sure my programs won't be as sophisticated as yours), I wonder what role Google Home has in this and what Nodeservers you use for this.

All that depends on what you're trying to accomplish. In all rooms outside of the theater, I use Harmony so it's that node server. I have Sonos ones in all the rooms as well so the Sonos nodeserver is in play as well. With you using Chromecast you would just use your same setup as now with av remote.

My setup starts at my locks. Since we have separate codes, mine does what I want and my wife's does what she wants with hers depending on situation

If you let me know what you want to do, I can give you better information to make it happen

That is very interesting. Great setup !

My home arrival programs are triggered by motion sensors and that serves my needs. My chromecasts stream about  18 hours every day (AVRemote and GH Routines). Zwave switches on the the amplifiers in my 3 "zones"  control this. Holidays Google will disable the connected amplifiers if we are on a trip.

My question was really on the role of Google Home in this specific setup, which I now understand not to be there.

First let me apologize for being so out of date.  I have spent about 9 months each year, for the last three years, traveling in Europe in my RV.  When I was home on occasion my lights and programs just worked so I haven't even touched them.  I have been adding Google Home services during this time.

Based on the previous comments I have just upgraded to the latest version 5 and found the node server configuration option.  I have read a lot of the posts and I am afraid that I am still stumped.  Here is my setup:

ISY controlling many Insteon switches, keypads, outlets etc. (all my lights are insteon)
Broadlink controlling my IR and RF devices (fireplace, TV, blinds etc.)  On a side note, I removed Harmony and replaced it with Broadlink.  Initially the main reason was for the RF learning and control but I actually much prefer it for controlling my IR devices as well.  It works the way I always wanted and doesn't force me into the scenes that Harmony tried to.
Google Home controlling my music, inititiating routines that go through the ISY to turn on lights and run Broadlink commands etc.  Also Google Home is my voice control for everything.

Currently when I come home I tell Google that I am home and it turns on my lights (eventually), turns on my fireplace, turns on my music, and turns on my Android TV hoping that my screensaver program will come on soon.  This routine triggers ISY, Broadlink and Google music.  I have not yet found the dummy's guide to Nodeservers.  If someone can tell me that what I want to do will work with nodeservers then I will keep hunting and reading.  Please let me know if you think this is possible........Jackie

It's not. It could be added by simply telling Google I'm home and then running the corresponding programs. Instead of Google routines, I use isy programs. It accomplishes the same things. Just more efficiently.

Motion sensors can work. The downside is that they don't know who entered. By using your lock vs sensors as a trigger, your setup becomes personalised which is more automated than having to tell the system you're home

ISY programs are indeed more flexible but a few weeks ago I had an issue with the AVRemote nodeserver (which I ended up deleting and re-installing) and started the to use the GH Routines for fixed days and times. I also have a program to stream music that is based on Sunset, and for this ISY is much better.

You are right, but we have no real need for this. My dear wife has very little tolerance for my techie gadgets and only allows it because she considers it preferable to me spending time in bars.....?

Mine felt the same way until she first experienced it. Now she hates staying anywhere because of how things are at home

My wife blocks her mind on how our HA has actually made her life easier.  Our master bathroom has 3 light switches, which I included in a program whereby all go ON/OFF as per the switch nearest to the door. Same in our kitchen etc. She just takes all this for granted. She also has an issue with Google Home which does not like her Latino accent, therefore instead of OK Google she just says OK "my name"  and instructs me.

I don't think that's a Google/Alexa or accent issue... isn't this normal?  Similar to when my wife is talking she says "We" but she really means "You".

Once they get the feel of commanding something it is going to spread to other things.
Who's fault is that bringing HA slaves into the home?  We let them vote, now move into the 21 century. :)

For a long time my kids believed that my middle name was "Cash" and now my Wife believes that my name is "Google"

We rarely use voice control. That's one thing mine hates. Everytime we do use it, I make notes and look for ways to automate what happened. I'm trying to make my house responsive vs reactive

I follow  that concept too. I found all the yelling wasn't helping the outcome.
Trouble is, she doesn't like when I push her buttons or try to program her.

I think we're all in that boat

How would I use ISY programs to control my Broadlink controller that turns on and off my IR devices?  Is this where the new node services comes in?

I will look into Sunset. I don't know anything about it, but I will soon :-)

I am not familiar with Broadlink but I saw online that it seems to be a mix between ISy and a Harmony Hub. I did not see any Broadlink nodeserver in the "Nodeserver Store", so that may not be the solution. Maybe others in this forum are familiar with broadlink and can guide you.

There are currently 73 nodeservers in the Nodeserver Store and I use some 5 of these. Very nice and talented fellow ISY'ers develop and maintain these nodeservers and if you are lucky maybe one of them can create a Broadlink nodeserver.

If I wanted to press a button on my insteon keypad and execute one ISY instruction to turn on my lights and then execute a Google home instruction or routine can I do that?  I can get to my Broadlink from Google without a problem........Jackie

No. However if all of your devices are part of the isy, a simple program would suffice in place of a Google routine
