KPL Toggle questions

I have a KPL that is currently NOT controlling a load in any way (it was the ceiling fan switch - we changed to one that has a remote for the fan and thus needs only one switch). I put it in just as a "controller".

 

It is setup in 6 button mode. A, B, C, & D all control lights, no problem.

 

What I am trying to do is make the main On / Off buttons run "home" and "away" programs. When leaving the house, you would hit the away button and it would run the program shutting everything down. When you come home, hit the home button and run the program turning on the desired lights.

 

I would prefer both main lights to be off in their "resting state". But when pressed, light up, run the program and then reset the status to "off" when the program is complete.

 

I have tried various toggles but haven't made it happy yet.

Any thoughts / directions appreciated.

The 6 button/5 scene mode on the KPL really isn't designed to handle that sort of behavior.

 

What you could do, however, is program it to 8 button mode but leave the 6 button faceplate on, then cross-link buttons a and b, and cross-link buttons g and h.

 

Your home program would trigger if either a or b turned on, would set the scene and turn off the scene with a,b,g and h as responders; your away program would trigger if either g or h turned on, would set the away scene, then would turn off the scene with a,b,g and h as responders.
